This week I'm reading from Steve Neill's book 'But Something is There'.But Something is There is Steve Neill's journey through a life time of dealing with the unknown. Some call the experience "The Visitors" some call it abduction by aliens. He was mentored by Francis Coppola and became good friends. Moving to Hollywood, Steve met Joe Blasco where he apprenticed for a short while before becoming friends with Rick Baker who gave him his start in Hollywood. Later he met Bob Schieffer who was head of Disney make-up and then became friends with Fred B. Phillips as a result of being friends with Bob Schieffer.Steve Neill first worked for Fred B. Phillips on Star Trek: The Motion Picture. His first assignment was to make Spock's ears. Additionally he designed and made the appliances of the dome headed alien on the bridge that was applied by Ve Neill.After working on Star Trek Steve went to work for John Chambers making prosthetics and puppet heads for National Lampoon’s Class Reunion.Steve Neill has also worked on Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country for Richard Snell as a sculptor and prosthetic maker of numerous Klingon forehead pieces. Additionally he worked on the Star Trek: The Next Generation pilot episode, "Encounter at Farpoint".Steve Neill was also one of the Famous Hollywood Gorilla Men. Over the course of many years he made three gorilla suits and performed in many commercials, tv shows and movies. Additionally he created the McDonald’s “Mac Tonight” moon character puppeteering it for many years. The head was worn by Doug Jones and puppeteered by Steve Neill, Gillian Neill and Bob Burns.He worked on Crater Lake Monster (1977) and Laser Blast (1978). Steve created, wrote and produced The Day Time Ended (1978). This week I'm talking to Graeme Rendall about his book 'Chasing Shadows: Aerial UFO Encounters 1955-1956'.By January 1955, the United States Air Force had already established and terminated two official UFO investigation programs, and was now well into its third, Project Blue Book. Thousands of pages of witness testimony, reports, and analysis had already been typed up and yet little if anything was known about UFOs. These strange objects and lights were written off as planets, weather balloons, and other aircraft, whilst unidentified radar contacts were labelled as nothing more than weather-related phenomenon (“anomalous propagation”). The official USAF response regarding UFOs was that they simply did not exist.Yet reports of sightings continued, reported by airline pilots, jet interceptor crews, and private plane owners across the world. This week I am reading from Richard Martini's book 'Close Encounters of the Flipside Kind: How To Phone Home'.For the past fifteen years, Richard has been filming, recording interviews with people talking to people offstage via hypnotherapy, mediumship or via guided meditation. In this book, Richard interviews people offstage about Aliens - including physicists who have left the stage (Stephen Hawking, Carl Sagan) as well as psychiatrists and scientists on the Flipside, (John E Mack, J Allen Hynek) peppering these interviews with personal accounts from people who were "visited by aliens" or who had an experience seeing them on their "council" or seeing them during a guided meditation or via hypnosis. People report the same things - that "we are all aliens" because "we all choose to come here from elsewhere" Mind bending reports.
