It's Time To Rethink De-Escalation

It's Time To Rethink De-Escalation

On this episode Gary and Anthony take a look at a recent incident involving a suspect brandishing a chainsaw in a retirement home. The video demands a discussion on hesitation by officers that seems to be driven, in part, by a focus on de-escalation. Are trainers doing a disservice to officers in training when they don't better define de-escalation and when and how it should be used? They also take a look at a recent incident in Rochester, NY (a sanctuary city) where officers were thrown under the bus by city leadership after assisting federal officers on a tense traffic stop. Additionally they take a look at a female Miami PD officer who failed to intervene in a beating taking place right in front of her which reopens a discussion on the 30x30 initiative. An update on the cases against Ofc. Mac Marquette and Ofc. Brad Lunsford are also provided and discussed.
