The whole chapter on Elisha can be summoned up into this simple statement "Give your best wherever God places you". Welcome Back to A Closer Look Season 2! In this season I will be reviewing the chapters of the current book I am reading Learning from the Giants by John Maxwell in the book, Mr. Maxwell presents what it would be like to be mentored by some of the giants of faith. He provided not only lessons to be learned about leadership from their lives, but also so thought provoking questions at the end of the chapters. The way I plan to do these episodes is to talk a little about the life of the giant of the faith, then give you the place in scripture where you can read about them. Share some of the points that stuck out to me from the book, then finally read off, and answer the discussion question at the end of the chapter. With all that being said today I am going to be talking about the prophet Elijah. After listening I recommend reading 1 Kings chapters 17-19, this is the section of Elijah's life that I reviewed for this episode.

"A house divided against itself can not stand" a quote I originally thought came from Abraham Lincoln in his speech addressing the division in the country back in 1858, but it is actually a quote from Jesus. Mark 3:24-25 " If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. "And if a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand." Now as a Church we are building God's kingdom here on earth, but I can't help but notice that there can be division in the Church. In today's podcast I look at some of the reasons why there can be division in the church, as well as ways to address this division and share ways to build unity instead.

Did you ever think to yourself this all sounds great, but how do I claim or walk into God’s promises; you’re not alone. I remember sitting in countless services being told that the Bible is full of God’s promises, but not knowing how to claim them or "walk in them" as the pastor would say. In today's episode I share what I've learned in how to actually claim or walk in what God has promised you.

In today's episode I cover the parable of the sower. If you are unfamiliar, the parable of the sower is a parable that Jesus taught, about how people hear/receive God's word. It is told in three books of the bible Matthew, Mark, and Luke. As I was reflecting on it I realized that at one point I had been or even can be like all the examples listed from the parable. And so Today, I take some time to break down each of the examples in the parable, and give example from my own life of the varies ways I have received God's word into my heart.
