Rescuing the Antipodes: How Rodent Eradication Saved an Island Ecosystem

Rescuing the Antipodes: How Rodent Eradication Saved an Island Ecosystem

We are going way back to Episode 49! An early interview but an important one. All about how conservationists are working hard to eradicate invasive species on some of our remotest islands on Earth. Chris interviewed Theo Van Noort in 2018, who was a Research Associate at the New Zealand Institute of Plant and Food Research. He worked on entomology, bombiculture and crop pollination. His Master’s research at the University of Auckland examined invasive wasp populations and their effect on pollination. Theo shares his trip to the Antipodes Islands in 2018 to evaluate the effectiveness of the Million Dollar Mouse Project, its ability to eradicate any rodents and also evaluating the work on rehabilitating insect populations.
