Prophecy. Acts 19:6. 11/09/2025

We stand at the threshold of understanding one of the most misunderstood yet vital spiritual gifts in the body of Christ: prophecy. Drawing from Acts 2 and Joel's ancient prophecy, we discover that Pentecost wasn't merely about tongues but about ushering in a prophetic movement where sons and daughters, young and old, would speak forth God's heart. Prophecy is not simply predicting the future; it's receiving divine revelation and speaking forth the mind and counsel of God. The Greek word 'apocalupto' reveals that true prophecy is always divine activity, never human perception or street smarts. When we prophesy according to 1 Corinthians 14:3, our words should strengthen, encourage, and comfort others. This isn't about knowing secrets or impressing people with general statements; it's about communicating God's specific heart for individuals in ways that bring conviction, confirmation, and hope. The beauty of prophecy lies in its accessibility to all believers while requiring accountability through testing against Scripture and God's character. We're called not to stifle the Holy Spirit but to eagerly desire this gift, using it to point people toward redemption and transformation. When we understand that every prophetic word should sound like God—full of hope, restoration, and the promise of change—we can confidently step into this calling with both boldness and humility.
