Energy Vampires (Episode 37)

Have you encountered someone who is so resistant to DEI work that they seem to drain all of your energy? You get sucked into the vortex of their unrelenting resistance, and often this distracts you from the work and all of the other folks that support it. This week on the show Lisa & Shaunna explain that we can call those folks that seem to exhaust you constantly “Energy Vampires.” They take our energy to fuel themselves, leaving us with less energy to spend not just in our social justice work, but in all areas of our lives. We all have to be intentional about how we spend our energy, whether this be in sport, our careers, or in social justice work. It is important to set boundaries, especially when interacting with “Energy Vampires,” and to direct our focus towards those folks that do have the energy and excitement to engage in DEI work alongside us.
