The Burrito (Episode 87)

What is it about white people that makes them think they always have *the* solution or answer to a problem? This week, Shaunna and Lisa discuss Burritos. That's right - if you thought they had it all covered, think again.

Recently, a group of white appearing students put their brains together to come up with a business idea - what if eating a burrito didn't have to be so messy to eat? They created an adhesive that makes it so this meal can be as clean as possible. At first glance, this doesn't seem like a problem. However, this tool takes away all of the cultural backgrounds of the burrito and imposes white western values of "cleanliness" onto this food. Taking a step back from this, Shaunna and Lisa discuss what it means to do DEI work correctly, and how white supremacy finds a way to "fix" things that were never a problem in the first place.
