Here’s what we got up to: The Athanasiou Situation: We talk about where things stand with the last-holdout RFA in the entire league and where all the blame should lie in regards to why he isn’t signed. Would a one or two-year deal change the way he plays or his motivation to arbitration? We also talk how the Red Wings ought to be using him if/when he does come back. The Red Wings Roster: We break down the forwards and defense, looking at lines and pairings to see how the final roster played out. The Forwards are kind of decent, but obviously they have to play in front of a still-suspect defense. Around the League: While we’ve stamped out as much excitement around here as we can, there’s an entire league to stamp out and get excited for! Is the Atlantic going to be the laughingstock? Can McDavid dummy the whole league? Will Jagr make Calgary a big difference-maker? Positivity Corner: After a lengthy trip around the greener grass on the other side of the fence in the league, we take a break to smell the roses in our own garden.
