Ep. 942: Losing 200 Pounds to Hike the PCT - Part 2 - Josh “Long Story” Murphy

Ep. 942: Losing 200 Pounds to Hike the PCT - Part 2 - Josh “Long Story” Murphy

This is the second half of the interview I had with Josh. You can listen to the first half on last Monday’s episode, Ep. 940.

Growing up poor in rural Pennsylvania as a morbidly obese child, and later adult, left Josh with very little prospects in life, by his own accounts.

He was convinced he was bound for an early grave and life wouldn’t amount to much. One day a radical shift in perspective and life habits, brought on by the smallest comment from an acquaintance, let Josh to losing over 200 pounds and pursuing a life long dream of military service.

Although Josh was making his way into the military, a chronic condition, due to his previous weight, kept him from advancing.

However, where one dream died another was born.

Following his army dreams crashing and burning he took to the 2,650 mile Pacific Crest Trail where he hooped to find purpose, discover who he truly was and what he wanted out of life.
