In the heart of Madrid stands the magnificent Palacio de Linares, a nineteenth-century palace with a reputation for scandal, tragedy and one of Spain’s most famous ghost stories.

According to legend, the palace was home to José de Murga and Raimunda de Osorio, an aristocratic couple whose marriage was said to hide a shocking secret: they were allegedly half-brother and half-sister. The story claims that after appealing to the Pope, they were allowed to remain married only if they lived chastely. But when a child was supposedly born, the scandal deepened, and that child became known as Raimundita.

Was she murdered to protect the family name?
