Will Ospreay opened the show by saying he wasn’t sure he would make it back from neck surgery, but now questioned if he can win the big one. Ospreay said that to understand what it takes to be a British wrestler fighting for the world title on the biggest stage, you have to understand what it’s like to be a British wrestler. Ospreay reminisced on his days on the English independent scene, saying it was to show the UK is where the best wrestle. He gives a shoutout to British wrestling legends like Mark Haskins, Doug Williams, and more. Ospreay also said he liked to honor those who are no longer here, like Chris Travis, Mad Kurt, Ryan Smile, and Lionheart. He mentioned that Omega is not there tonight, but says no one has more respect for Omega than him; however, the respect is gone after Omega mentioned his son. Ospreay said he promises his best on Sunday and that “you don’t want to fuck with a man looking after a boy.” He said that there is a debt that needs to be paid and that it is time to bring it home.
