Sarah Ray Exodus Road Part 1 Human Trafficking - The Problem

Human trafficking is a global crisis that affects millions of individuals across every continent. It is a multibillion-dollar criminal industry, second only to drug trafficking, and continues to grow due to high demand and low risks for traffickers. According to the International Labour Organization (ILO), an estimated 50 million people were living in modern slavery in 2021, with 27.6 million subjected to forced labor and sex trafficking. Trafficking primarily targets vulnerable populations, including women, children, migrants, and impoverished individuals. It has devastating consequences, not only for the victims but also for their families, economies, and communities worldwide. Sarah Ray is a visionary nonprofit leader with 16 years of experience combating human trafficking through education, aftercare, and social entrepreneurship. As Global Director of Education and Aftercare at The Exodus Road, she designs trauma-informed programs that transform lives across multiple continents. Drawing on her background in Religious & Global Studies and specialized trauma certification, Sarah has authored curricula implemented worldwide and co-developed comprehensive aftercare programs for survivors in Thailand. Her current work includes pioneering digital safety initiatives that protect American youth from online exploitation. In todays podcast we will address:
