Run for a Reason: The Valley Apple Cider Run Supports Mental Health in the Sauk Valley

On this episode of Along the Rock, host Nathan Stahr sits down with Nick Pepper from 7:24 Fitness on the Rock and Andrew Jackson from Sinnissippi Centers to talk about the Sauk Valley Apple Cider Run.

Now in its sixth year, the event brings together a 5K, half marathon, fall fun, and an important cause. The race is a fundraiser for the Sinnissippi Centers CARES Fund, which provides short-term assistance for clients facing needs such as housing, utilities, medication copays, employment, and home or vehicle repairs.

📅 Saturday, October 10
⏰ 8 a.m.
📍 Selmi's Greenhouse and Farm Market

The 5K and half marathon both start and finish at Selmi's. The 5K follows an out-and-back course, while the half marathon travels through the Rock Falls and Sterling areas, along the canal and through Sinnissippi Park.

Registration includes admission to Selmi's for the day, plus an apple cider donut and drink. Participants who register early can also receive race merchandise. The 5K is $35 and the half marathon is $60 before prices increase October 1.

Packet Pickup:
Friday, October 9, from 4 to 6 p.m. at 7:24 Fitness on the Rock. Race-morning pickup will also be available beginning at 7 a.m.

The Sauk Valley Apple Cider Run is also the fourth race in the Hope Series, which brings together four races supporting different mental health organizations throughout the area.
