Ep. 989: First Women to Solo Ski Across Antarctica - Revisited - Felicity Aston

Originally aired Aug 13, 2018

Felicity Aston MBE is a British Polar Explorer, author, speaker and expedition leader. In 2012, she became the first woman to ski alone across Antarctica, a journey of 1084 miles that took 59 days to complete. That expedition garnered her a Guinness World Record. She has also been elected Fellow of both the Royal Geographical Society in London and The Explorers Club in New York.

Her love for polar exploration began at the age of 23 at Rothera Research Station on the Antarctic Peninsula, where she monitored the climate as a meteorologist.

Her expeditions have taken her to places like Greenland, where she became the first British woman to cross the giant landmass, both the North and South Pole, and to leading numerous record-breaking adventures all over the world, involving all women teams.

Her story is truly inspirational and her achievements are downright amazing.

Ep. 638: Running 30 Marathons in 30 Countries Before Turning 30 - Liz Warner

After running her first marathon in Tokyo after the loss of her father, Liz grew a deep love of running as a form of therapy and exercise. She had a self-proclaimed “addiction” for the high of crossing the finish line after over 26 miles of running, especially in places that were far from her hometown of Atlanta. As she approached her 30th birthday while living in Paris, she decided to join her passion for travel and marathons into an adventure of a lifetime! She committed to run 30 marathons in 30 different countries by the time she turns 30 in June of 2020. Each marathon focused on a different charity and she’s currently raising $100,000 to donate to the various causes. You find out more about her marathons and fundraising here. runtoreach.comInstagram: @runtoreachSign up for the virtual marathon for May 24th! runtoreach.com/virtual-marathonSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/adventure-sports-podcast/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

Ep. 633: Survivor Winner - Ethan Zohn

Ethan knows what it takes to survive. He’s faced cancer twice, lost his father at the age of 14, had teammates die of AIDS while playing professional soccer in Africa, and has won the reality show Survivor: Africa. Today Ethan is joining Without Compromise to talk about what it means to survive difficult situations and ultimately use those tragedies for good in a principle he calls “never letting a crisis go to waste”. For example, when he won the $1 million prize for Survivor: Africa he decided to use the money to start Grassroot Soccer, an adolescent health organization that uses the popularity of soccer to educate at-risk youth all over the world.
