The Nice Cult Presents31 Maalis 2022

Season 3 Episode 13 Cargo Cults

The religious movements chiefly, but not solely, in Melanesia that exhibit belief in the imminence of a new age of blessing, to be initiated by the arrival of a special “cargo” of goods from supernatural sources. Listen to hear the Juicy Details. We add a new holiday to our cult. Don swears.

The Good:

Not warring tribes
Acceptable to view advanced technology as magic

The Bad:

Sugar introduced
Killed all livestock to appease that gods and get more cargo... with no success

The Culty (is there anything in this cult worth incorporating into our own?):

April 2nd is Coconut Communion Day
