Most utilities have funds that are available for owners/developers to help offset the first cost premium of energy efficiency projects, while maximizing long-term operational savings. To encourage energy efficiency, governments, utilities and other organizations offer energy efficiency and other financial incentives to make energy efficiency more accessible for today’s homes and businesses. Often these are not capitalized and are missed opportunities; especially for those projects already designing energy efficient buildings as a base standard; leaving tens of thousands of dollars on the table.
