On April 2nd, 2015 Tom Turcich left his home in New Jersey to embark on a five year trek across the seven continents. The dream of walking around the world formed at seventeen after his friend AnneMarie passed. Since her death Tom decided to make the most of each day. He is walking around the world to become immersed in unknown places and be forced into adventure day after day. Dan Keeley is on a mission to raise awareness for depression and bipolar disorder by running 1250 miles self-supported from Rome to London. It's called Rome to Home. In the summer of 2012 he experienced a full-blown manic episode – an episode which culminated with him believing he was ‘the chosen one’ and preaching from the central lane of a major motorway in Italy at rush hour. What followed was a diagnosis of Bipolar Disorder, time spent in psychiatric wards both in Italy and the UK, and the inevitable crippling depression which found him wanting to take my his own life. It has been 5 years now and Dan is doing awesome! He has a new lease on life and is using it to its fullest. Tom Fabbri is on the show today to tell us about his progress in his attempt to climb the 7 Summits as well as his experiences from Mt. Vinson. Tom is a world class adventurer who is on a journey to complete the Adventure Grand Slam, summiting the tallest peaks on each of the seven continents and skiing to the North and South Poles. In one year, he climbed four of these peaks in his quest to fulfill this dream – Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa, Mt. Elbrus in Russia, Mt. Kosciuszko in Australia, and Aconcagua in Argentina. His most recent climb took him to Mt. McKinley in Alaska where he summited on July 5, 2013. With two climbs left, Vinson Massif in Antarctica and Mt. Anna-Marie Watson grew up in an outdoor-loving, adventurous family. The adventures continued as she served nearly a decade in the British Army. Upon leaving the military, she knew she did not want a standard job and "normal" life. So, what did she do? She flew to New Zealand to bicycle the country. This started a series of adventures that led her to competing in the world half Ironman, running (and winning second female) the Marathon De Sables, and many other adventures. And she is not slowing down. She is currently training for The Ultra Trail Du Mont Blanc – a 171 km race around Mont Blanc. Dina Mishev moved to Jackson Hole, WY so she could live her life of adventure. While there, she was dealt two blows of bad news. At 30 years old, she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and then 9 years later, she learned she had stage 3 breast cancer. However, as difficult and debilitating these two health issues were for her, she pressed on through and continued to keep adventure a big part of her life.
