Ep. 549: A 108 Day Journey Along the Spine of Asia Revisited - Oli France

Ep. 549: A 108 Day Journey Along the Spine of Asia Revisited - Oli France

Originally Published December 11, 2017

From Oli's book:

"Midway through a major house renovation and just months from his wedding day, the timing couldn’t have been worse. Yet, in late 2015, Oli France, a hapless kitchen salesman with a history of impromptu adventures, decided to quit his job and begin a unique expedition. His journey began in Hong Kong, and over the next 108 days, he traveled overland, by any means, across eleven countries to reach Istanbul. Along the way, Oli was lost in a land-mined jungle, detained, interrogated and spied upon. He skirted avalanches, frostbite, and severe dehydration as he completed fourteen audacious mountain climbs in mid-winter. Oli celebrated three new year festivals, partied with locals and found forgotten dinosaur footprints in a remote Tajik valley. This is the story of one man’s journey into some of the most scarcely documented corners of Asia, describing the kind heart of humanity and the immense challenges posed by mountains off the beaten track."

Ep. 371: The Best Trails for Hiking with Your Kids in Western Washington - Susan Elderkin

Ep. 369: Kungsleden Trail in Sweden and Repelling for Charity - Todd Medeiros

In 2017, Todd Medeiros and girlfriend A.J. hiked the 270-mile Kungsleden Trail in Sweden using snowshoes, crampons and sleds. The Kungsleden or "King's Trail" runs from Abisko to Hemavan in northern Sweden. Even though the trail is a hut trail, the pair decided to do it by camping outdoors. Todd also fills us in on an organization called Over the Edge Global who holds urban repelling events for fundraisers. In urban repelling, people repel from the rooftops of tall buildings.
