Ep. 932: How to Be a Wildpreneur - Tamara Jacobi

Ep. 932: How to Be a Wildpreneur - Tamara Jacobi

Born in Vermont and raised in Quebec, Tamara’s wild inspiration was sparked by family expeditions that included bikepacking the USA’s Continental Divide, kayaking the Sea of Cortez and mountaineering Mexico’s volcanoes. This unusual upbringing prompted Tamara to look beyond the status quo, write a business plan while at Middlebury College (VT) and head to the Mexican Pacific with her parents. In 2007, they created the Tailwind Jungle Lodge, an adventure lodge and retreat center. Today, Tamara and her family are still in the jungle; surfing, hiking and exploring alongside her parents, husband and 2 adventurous little kiddos.Life and business in the jungle has been a wild ride and Tamara shares her experience in Wildpreneurs (HarperCollins Leadership 2020)--a guidebook for turning passion into business. The book tells Tamara's story, alongside guidance and inspiration from dozens of other free-spirited Wildpreneurs who are blazing their own business trails. Tamara's adventures have continued as her book fell into the hands of the team at Thermal, who invited her to join them to create epic surf trips with legendary local guides around the world.Find out more about Tamara, the Jungle Lodge and her book, Wildpreneurs:www.wildpreneurs.com, https://www.instagram.com/wildpreneurswww.tailwindjungleldoge.comhttps://www.instagram.com/tailwindjunglelodgehttps://www.thermal.travelhttps://www.instagram.com/thermal.traveSponsor Messages:Live Wildly:If you love hiking, biking and locally-sourced outdoor adrenaline, then you love the Florida Wildlife Corridor.Panthers, Manatee, Tortoise and even the elusive Armadillo know the awesomeness of the more than 18 million acres that make up the Florida Wildlife Corridor - but do you? Get connected at LiveWildly.com, go explore, fall in love and help protect it!Then share your own adventures and check out Wild Floridians just like you @LiveWildlyFLLectric eBikesLectric eBikes offers a wide range of customizable and adjustable eBike options to accommodate an array of different lifestyles. Ep. 929: The Longest Canoe Trip in History - Revisited - Dana Starkell

Originally aired July 13, 2020When 10-year-old Dana bought a book about Tarzan rather than a candy bar with his first $1 allowance, he had no idea just how fateful that decision would be.After being inspired by the book he told his dad, Don, that he wanted to walk to the Amazon River. Don, being the imaginative adventurer that he was, took his son's request seriously and began planning what would become the world's longest-ever canoe trip.It would take 10 years before Don, Dana, and his brother, Jeff, would set out on their 12,000 mile, 2-year-long journey to the mouth of the Amazon River on June 1, 1980. Jeff eventually dropped out of the adventure, but Don and Dana made it to the end, earning their induction into the Guinness Book of World Records for having completed the longest canoe journey ever, a distance of 12,181 miles (19,603 kilometers).Buy the book here: PaddletotheAmazon.comguitarsystem123.comdanastarkell.comFacebook: @PaddleToTheAmazonSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/adventure-sports-podcast/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
