Ep. 805: Near Death on the Pacific Crest Trail - Alan Carpenter

Ep. 805: Near Death on the Pacific Crest Trail - Alan Carpenter

Alan didn’t start his long-distance career until the age of 62! Since discovering his love for adventures he has logged over 20,000 miles in the last decade with accomplishments like hiking the John Muir Trail (twice), the Colorado Trail (twice), the Pacific Crest Trail, the Appalachian Trail, and half of the Continental Divide Trail. He has also bicycled the US Pacific Coast, across the US on the Southern Tier, and Northern Tier Routes. All this has been in his 60’s and 70’s.

This continued love for adventure, however, came from the most unexpected of places, a near-death experience on the Pacific Crest Trail. The life-threatening accident completely changed the way he viewed the world and led him to make the healthy choices he’s incorporated into his daily life, which he attributes to his ability to do these adventures at his age.

This is a great tale full of wisdom and inspiration that I know you’ll enjoy.

Ep. 349: Discovering Adventure Sports in Your Forties - Scott Newman

Ep. 349: Discovering Adventure Sports in Your Forties - Scott Newman

Some of are introduced to adventure sports shortly after figuring out how to walk. Some of us found ourselves eyeballs deep in our adventure passions as teenagers and, for others, it takes until their forties or later to discover the pure enjoyment we have all come to know and love no matter what age we were when it happened. And that is a great thing. It's not crucial that we all see the light so early in life. What is important is that we do eventually find ourselves living and dreaming as adventurers. Scott Newman spends time with Curt re-living his discovery and new passion for hiking and backpacking on today's show. Can you relate to Scott's story? if so, join our Facebook group and tell us about it. We would love to hear your story!    www.svencansee.com www.facebook.com/SvenCanSee twitter.com/svencansee www.instagram.com/svencansee   Visit bissell.com/adventuresports to learn more and buy your very own BARKBATH! And when you use the coupon code ADVENTURESPORTS you’ll receive two bottles of free no rinse shampoo with your order. Ep. 345: Fear in Adventure - Are You Afraid to Sing in Public? - Two Fools

Curt surprises Travis with a spontaneous phone call and discussion about the fear of trying new adventure sports. This oddball episode is outside of our normal realm but will hopefully provide you with some smiles and laughs as well as some food for thought. As if putting Travis on the spot by cold calling him to have this discussion wasn't enough, Curt decides to toss Travis directly under the bus by slipping in a very embarrassing little ditty Travis recorded while testing a new microphone back in the fledgling days of the Adventure Sports Podcast. Enjoy a laugh on my behalf!  Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/adventure-sports-podcast/donations Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brands Privacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
