086– Gay and 40 Plus – William Smith

086– Gay and 40 Plus – William Smith

You might argue that being over 40 is no different for gay men versus straight men. On the surface that may seem correct. However, straight men don’t have a history of having to deal with lack of acceptance, or missing role models everywhere they look, of what life is like as a heterosexual. In fact, one of the reasons that gay men over 40 struggle to find and be themselves is they've always been labeled as outcasts. In this episode William Smith and I navigate some of the most challenging situations gay men face as we age. About William William Smith has been in the “people” business for many years helping support individuals and families. He is the President of Senior Care Advisers. This informational company gives mid-lifers and above an opportunity to be engaged and explore new concepts and trends in aging. He is the Founder of GayLifeAfter40.com providing useful information for gay me after 40. He works for SmithFin, LLC-A Life Insurance Comparison which operates The Life Insurance Store and LGBT Life Insurance Quote.com particularly focusing on helping people over 40 find the best insurance rates from the nation’s top rated life insurance companies saving them time, money and frustration. He understands that it isn’t always easy to talk to a non- gay professional about your life insurance needs as well as medical history. As we grow older, get married, and possibly build extended families and or start businesses, we come to realize more and more that life insurance is a fundamental part of having a sound financial plan. There is a certain comfort in knowing money will be available to protect your loved ones in the event of your passing. Smith is filling a void in the after 40 gay community by educating LGBT folks about the importance of having Life insurance. Before founding and publishing Gay Life After 40, he successfully launched and developed a referral company for seniors and their families in the Midwest by becoming the sales and marketing resource for health care professionals and senior housing communities. He has worked over 15 years in Human Resources in an executive capacity. In addition, he has been a volunteer Hospice counselor in his locale community. He had been awarded a Certified Senior Advisor designation by the Society of Senior Advisors and awarded the Spirit Award for creating positive driven information on the internet. 099: The art of Humility & Acceptance – Rick Clemons

099: The art of Humility & Acceptance – Rick Clemons

Regardless of the fact that some men can't accept defeat and loss (Donald Trump for example) the truth is most of us as men hate to admit we've lost and accept defeat. Why is that? Mostly because we haven't learned the art of humility. Today we explore that art and how to be more humble and less ego driven.Hey Guys, Check This Out!Are you a guy who keeps struggling to do that thing? 098: You’re never too old to be fully yourself – Colton Ford

098: You’re never too old to be fully yourself – Colton Ford

"I'm to old for that!" Really, then you must not have any adventure left in your life and your soul. How about instead, you said, "I'm never to old for that!" That attitude and outlook will make you stay as young as you choose to be, because it is all your mental outlook as to what you can and can't do, regardless of what age you are. Just ask musician and former adult film star, Colton Ford.“Figuring our way through challenges, hardships and difficult times is an integral part of life for most men, and where we can learn and grow the most on our journey through it.” Colton Ford acknowledges that the past several years have been challenging for him – debilitating, at times – but he has found inspiration through the process, reflected in his songwriting, as he is coming out to reclaim his direction for his life and his music - even as a 50+ year old guy! This is his inspiring podcast on never being to old to have adventure in your life.About ColtonHis debut single, “Stronger,” from his upcoming EP, “Unity,” was written by Ford along with his collaborative partners, Ron Schrader and Spin Sista, collectively known as Woop Woop Productions.Colton was also named in AfterElton.com's Top 50 Gay Male Musicians, he was featured in Cyndi Lauper’s video for her hit “Into The Nightlife,” and also performed on the Lauper-helmed 2008 True Colors Tour. He was the subject of the acclaimed 2003 documentary, “Naked Fame,” and has had cameos in the films “Another Gay Sequel” by Todd Stephens, and John Schlesinger’s “The Next Best Thing” starring Madonna and Rupert Everett. Glenn co-starred for three seasons playing Sheriff Trout on Here! TV’s “The Lair,” and was also a featured panelist on the channel’s resident chat fest, “Threesome.” He made his off-Broadway debut in 2012 co-starring in “Little House on the Ferry,” and also co-starred in Studio C’s Production of Howard David Rivers’ critically acclaimed play, “And All The Dead, Lie Down,” in Hollywood California, 2018.For the past seven years, Ford took a conscious step back from his public life, still releasing an album (“Glenn Soukesian” in 2016) and several singles during that time, but not pushing his work the way he had done previously. “I needed time to process the losses I was experiencing during this time, reflect and grow,” he says. “With regard to my work, these days I’m not compromising my vision, changing who I am artistically or doing music that doesn’t represent me. I’m doing what I feel is right for me first and foremost. I’ve grown very comfortable and confident trusting my creative voices without question or compromise. I’ve become Stronger.”Connect WithInstagramFacebookYou can also listen to the podcast on… <img...

097: Men, Intimacy, and Affection – Get Over It Already – Rick Clemons

097: Men, Intimacy, and Affection – Get Over It Already – Rick Clemons

You'd have to be hiding with your head in the sand to not hear all the crappy politics going on right now. And this podcast isn't about politics, until today. When a photo surfaced about Joe Biden affectionately sharing an intimate Father/Son moment surfaced on the internet causing some to cry "Creepy, Gross, Incest," I felt it was necessary to say, "Get over it and man up!" Men can show other men intimacy and affection and it doesn't mean there's something gross going on. It means there is love going on.So if you have a problem showing intimacy to another man, then you just might want to listen to this podcast. Of course, you probably won't because that's too gross, but I invite you to take a listen and drop yoru masculine bravado for just a moment!Hey Guys, Check This Out!Are you a guy who keeps struggling to do that thing? You know the thing you keep telling yourself and others you’re going to do, but never do? Then it’s time to get real and figure out why.Join the 40 Plus Men's Chat's.
