Melanie Curtis is a professional skydiver who led a group of  80 women skydivers from 22 countries to make history by setting a new world record: the largest all-women head-down (“vertical”) skydive. Named Project 19 after the 19th Amendment that gave women the right to vote, the spectacle celebrated women’s rights and highlighted women’s issues.Though they aimed for a record of 100, this fantastic team still got it done (breaking the 2016 record of 65). They took 29 jumps in total, including practice and warm-ups. The ladies pulled off the only successful skydiving world record this year; there were two others mixed men/women.Melanie has completed over 12,000 jumps to date and is a sought-after speaker and consultant. Melanie also co-hosts her own podcast, Trust the Journey with Jason Moledzki, which focuses on creating conscious connections through raw and vulnerable sharing. Originally aired September 28, 2017Uriel Eisen and Maggie Burke made their own Bikepacking bags and tent to go bikepacking in the Ecuadorian Andes. There were a lot of unknowns going in. Neither of them spoke much Spanish and neither of had done much high altitude activities. It was challenging at times with brutally rugged terrain, but the friendly people and the grandeur of the Andes made it incredibly rewarding for these two! Katie left her day job in 2014 with the goal of becoming her inner wonder woman. Within a month of accepting work onboard a tourist vessel in Antarctica, she sold her home, quit her job, and devoured all the cliff notes of known and unknown polar explorers. In 2018 Dorien Cramer cycled solo from Singapore back to her home in the Netherlands. She had no plan of where to go and how long she would be on the road. Only that she wanted to explore and see how and where other people live.With a tent and a stove in her panniers, she had everything she needed to go wherever she wanted. In China she reached the highest point of her trip on 4,807 meters altitude. There were also lows. In Malaysia she witnessed the logging of rainforest and in Kazakhstan she ate horse brain at a wedding reception. Sometimes her experiences were so difficult she thought of giving up and taking a train back home.
