On April 2nd, 2015 Tom Turcich left his home in New Jersey to embark on a five year trek across the seven continents. The dream of walking around the world formed at seventeen after his friend AnneMarie passed. Since her death Tom decided to make the most of each day. He is walking around the world to become immersed in unknown places and be forced into adventure day after day. Dan Keeley is on a mission to raise awareness for depression and bipolar disorder by running 1250 miles self-supported from Rome to London. It's called Rome to Home. In the summer of 2012 he experienced a full-blown manic episode – an episode which culminated with him believing he was ‘the chosen one’ and preaching from the central lane of a major motorway in Italy at rush hour. What followed was a diagnosis of Bipolar Disorder, time spent in psychiatric wards both in Italy and the UK, and the inevitable crippling depression which found him wanting to take my his own life. It has been 5 years now and Dan is doing awesome! He has a new lease on life and is using it to its fullest. Tom Fabbri is on the show today to tell us about his progress in his attempt to climb the 7 Summits as well as his experiences from Mt. Vinson. Tom is a world class adventurer who is on a journey to complete the Adventure Grand Slam, summiting the tallest peaks on each of the seven continents and skiing to the North and South Poles. In one year, he climbed four of these peaks in his quest to fulfill this dream – Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa, Mt. Elbrus in Russia, Mt. Kosciuszko in Australia, and Aconcagua in Argentina. His most recent climb took him to Mt. McKinley in Alaska where he summited on July 5, 2013. With two climbs left, Vinson Massif in Antarctica and Mt. Our favorite storm chasing, volcano descending global adventurer returns to fill us in on his most recent expeditions to northern Manitoba visiting Polar Bears, Myanmar photographing the tattooed women of Chin State, a volcano in Vanuatu and into the most dangerous volcano in Africa. He also shares some of his stories from an epic tornado season where he witnessed 9 tornadoes in a single day! George even shot a commercial for a restaurant where he descended into an active volcano in Guatemala to snatch a piece of lava for the shoot.
