Liverpool 3-0 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Premier League Match Report

The sporting weekend was overshadowed by the sudden and tragic death of Panthers forward Adam Johnson, and all of us here at 1865 send our condolences to Adam's nearest and dearest. On the pitch, Forest were very much second best and were never in danger of getting their first win at Anfield since 1969. It started badly when Steve Cooper confirmed that Chris Wood would be injured for a few weeks, just as he was coming into form, and Forest had no recognised attackers. Two goals in four minutes put the Reds behind, with a comedy third conceded as Matt Turner lost his head. Steven Toplis is joined by Tom Newton to review the match, with thoughts on Forest's form and Steve Cooper; we also hear from Neil Atkinson from The Anfield Wrap, sharing his views on the game and an optimistic prognosis for Forest's prospects. Tottenham were media darlings, but on the day there was only one winner, with two goals from Bryan Roy, one from Steve Stone and an absolute belter from Bohinen sealing the victory. Thrown to the Lions: Nottingham Forest 0-3 Millwall mini match report

Millwall put in a tactical masterclass in the first half, earning them three goals and three points. Forest were lacking in energy and pace, leading to the Lions exploiting the flanks, exposing the Reds’ full-backs and midfield, and enabling their giant striker Matt Smith to bully his way to a hat-trick. Angry Sabri: Middlesbrough 2-2 Nottingham Forest mini match report

A poor performance by Forest made a nervous Middlesbrough team look more likely to take the points. At least subs Joao Carvalho and John Bostock added some forward impetus and a foot on the ball, leading to Lewis Grabban’s impudent equaliser. Learn more about your ad choices.
