Meeting Jesus

Evil exists in the world because Satan is the god of this world (2 Corinthians 4:4). Jesus told us in John 10:10, “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” The killing, stealing and destroying are not from God, but from Satan.  Another reason for the rampant evil in the world is that God's people don't pray. Jesus told us to pray, “Thy kingdom come, thy will be done.” Why would He tell us to pray for His will to be done if it just happens automatically? There are many verses in the Bible that make it abundantly clear there is in fact, a geographical location of hell. It is a literal place of fire and torment, and it is found down deep in the earth. Jesus Himself is the ultimate source of the reliable, accurate truth about hell.  Because God has placed eternity in every human heart, the reality of hell even exists in the belief of many of the world's false religions. Man knows he is accountable to God after this life, and there will be a place of blessing, and a place of punishment.  God has given each of us a free will to choose where we will spend our eternity. There are many true accounts of people who have had a near death experience, or a clinical death experience. There are also stories of those who were given a dream or vision from God about heaven. Does Hell have different levels or degrees of punishment? Yes. Jesus tells us there are different degrees of punishment for people in hell. This makes sense because even here on earth prison sentences vary based on the severity of the crime, a criminal’s history, and the laws set forth by the authorities. The Creator of the Universe has prepared two locations where human beings will exist after they die. In Matthew 25:46, Jesus said, “And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.” There is only Heaven or hell. I have shared many times about the shark attack I miraculously walked away from when I was just 17 years old. This event marked the culmination of a defiant season in my youth. I share this to  give people a glimpse of who I was in my younger days because I believe there are some lessons that can be learned from my disobedience. First, there are consequences for our decisions. Some decisions are harmful and cannot be changed (apart from God’s intervention), or could even lead to a premature death. When we are young, it’s easy to be deceived and think we are invincible.
