  • Universal
  • First footage from Wicked looked expensive - huge scale with some of the biggest practical sets. Jon M. Chu said they planted 9 million real multi-colored tulips in one set.
  • Fast X: Part Two will hit theaters sometime in 2025. Vin Diesel claims Fast franchise is the longest running franchise with the same actors?
  • Kung Fu Panda 4 will be directed by Mike Mitchell (The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part, Trolls, Shrek Forever). The plot was revealed: Po receives a promotion and has to decide who will be the next Dragon Warrior. Po meets a female Fox warrior named Chen to possibly be his successor. The pair don’t get along at first but must learn how to put their differences aside to battle the Chameleon, a sorceress who can summon every single villain from past films back from the dead.
  • The cast was announced for Illumination’s next movie Migration. Kumail Nanjiani, Elizabeth Banks, Keegan-Michael Key, Awkwafina and Danny DeVito. This is written by The White Lotus creator Mike White. Its a road trip family comedy but with ducks.
  • Disney
  • Gareth Edwards next movie True Love has been retitled The Creator. John David Washington plays a man who has to protects a non-human child (android?) during an apocalyptic war between humans and Artificial intelligence. Very visually stunning, District 9 comparisons.

Terminator 2, 10 Cloverfield Lane, and More of Our Favorite Sci-Fi Sequels

On the February 29, 2024 episode of /Film Daily, /Film editor Ben Pearson is joined by /Film staff writer and box office analyst Ryan Scott to talk about some of their favorite sci-fi sequels.Opening Banter: Full disclosure, this episode might be chaotic. I had several plans for a themed Leap Day episode, and every single one of them ended up falling through, leaving me scrambling to come up with something to do at the last minute. But Ryan suggested we talk about some of our favorite sci-fi sequels in honor of Dune: Part Two, and since that movie actually does seem big enough to justify multiple episodes about it (or at least episodes that are ostensibly related to it), that sounded like a good idea to me.In Our Feature Presentation:Ryan’s favorite sci-fi sequels10 Cloverfield LaneAliensConquest of the Planet of the ApesBen’s favorite sci-fi sequelsTerminator 2: Judgment DayStar Trek II: The Wrath of KhanStar Wars: The Empire Strikes BackAll the other stuff you need to know:This episode is sponsored by BetterHelp.
