Why Caleb Flynn’s 23-Year-Old Mistress Ended Up Texting ‘Kill Her’

Caleb Flynn is charged with aggravated murder, murder, felonious assault, tampering with evidence, and intimidation in the death of his wife Ashley Flynn, 37, in Tipp City, Ohio. Prosecutors allege he shot her twice in the back of the head on February 16, 2026 while she slept, then staged a burglary. His defense says the state has no recovered murder weapon and no eyewitness.

The prosecution’s central witness is Alleigha Botner — a 23-year-old worship leader who spent more than four hours reading twelve months of text messages to the jury. Over more than 100,000 messages, according to her testimony, the texts moved from Flynn complaining about his marriage to both of them discussing how to make Ashley disappear.

In May 2025, per testimony, Flynn texted that he’d kill Ashley in a heartbeat. By June, he was asking Botner to hire someone. She asked for a future; he told her he’d never been joking. By July, Botner was texting in his language — calling Ashley “douche” and writing that she “needs to go.” Flynn’s reply, per testimony: he’d smile the whole time. Botner texted back: “Praise God.”

The messages reveal five moves repeated for a year: death wishes served as devotion, helplessness trained into her, emotional crisis deployed against every hard question, a 40-day spiritual fast used to replace real deadlines, and jealous surveillance framed as sacrifice. By September, five months before the shooting, they were coordinating the permanent deletion of these messages using methods Botner researched on ChatGPT. Cross-examination has not begun.
