Cloudy Water, Clear Mind: Your September Calm

Cloudy Water, Clear Mind: Your September Calm

Hey there, I'm Julia Cartwright, and I'm so glad you're here with me today. September mornings can feel a little chaotic, right? The week's still building momentum, and somewhere between your coffee and your calendar, stress has probably already knocked on the door. So take a breath with me. You're in the right place. Let's just settle in for a moment. Find a comfortable seat, feet planted if you can, and let your shoulders drop away from your ears. There's nowhere else you need to be right now except here, in this space we're creating together. If sitting feels wrong, standing is perfect too. This is about what works for your body today. Now, let's begin with something I call the grounding breath. Breathe in slowly through your nose for a count of four, feeling the cool air as it enters. Hold it for a gentle four counts, noticing the pause. Then exhale through your mouth for six counts, and really feel yourself settling down with each release. Let's do that three times together. In for four, hold for four, out for six. Again. And once more. Here's where the magic happens. I want you to imagine your stress as water. Not crashing waves or anything dramatic, just water. Maybe it's cloudy right now, murky with all the things on your mind. But water, by its nature, settles. When you stop stirring it up, clarity comes. So for the next few minutes, I want you to notice five things your body is feeling right now. Not thinking about, feeling. Maybe it's the texture of fabric against your skin, the weight of your feet on the ground, the gentle movement of your breath. Maybe there's warmth somewhere or a slight coolness. Just notice without judgment. You might find your nervous system starts to recognize that you're safe, that this moment is actually okay. The beautiful part? This practice isn't just for this moment. Today, when stress tries to pull your attention in ten directions, pause and feel one thing. Just one. Your hands holding your phone, your feet in your shoes, your breath moving through you. That single sensory anchor is like reaching into calm water and letting it settle you right where you stand. You've just done something really important for yourself. Thank you so much for spending these few minutes with me on Stress Relief. Please do subscribe so we can do this together again. You deserve these moments of peace.
