#0430 - I Want To Be Mummified And Put In The Museum Of Idaho After I Die - 10/02/2026

Friday has apparently arrived, and Viktor Wilt has decided that the only appropriate way to celebrate the end of the week is to begin the morning by discussing food, aging, death, funeral arrangements, horrifying books, potential apocalypse dates, AI-generated crocodiles, dangerous TikTok challenges, and the possibility that Grand Theft Auto 6 may be the only thing standing between humanity and total societal collapse. In other words, this is a completely normal episode of the Viktor Wilt Show. The morning begins with Viktor recounting his trip to the new Vampire Penguin restaurant, where he and Becca discover that the supposedly terrifying establishment is actually a place where you can get enormous burgers, including a jalapeño popper burger with an actual jalapeño popper violently erupting from the top like some sort of delicious food-based volcanic event. Viktor also explains his extremely specific beverage philosophy: he doesn't like hot drinks, doesn't like ice, doesn't like chewing ice, and apparently wants his beverages to exist in the extremely narrow temperature range of "not hot and not frozen."

The caffeine situation is immediately catastrophic. Viktor is out of instant coffee, forgot to go to the grocery store, and is therefore forced to deploy an energy drink while drinking lukewarm Gatorade like a man preparing for battle. Lieutenant Crane is off doing police stuff in Boise, so Ben from the Advocates Injury Attorneys gets drafted into service as Viktor's temporary co-host, giveaway assistant, legal-adjacent chaos participant, and eventual accomplice in what becomes an absolutely enormous prize giveaway extravaganza. The show is overflowing with Metallica vinyl, Metallica tickets, Godsmack tickets, Mastodon tickets, hockey tickets, haunted passports, Halloween music, and enough promotional obligations to make Viktor's calendar look like it was designed by a sadistic event planner.

Viktor is also preparing for a live broadcast at Wackerly Subaru with Maddie from Z103, where they will be giving listeners chances to win haunted passports granting access to five different haunted attractions around East Idaho. Viktor rattles off the attractions while seemingly operating at approximately 14% brain capacity: Lost Souls in Shelley, the Haunted Mill in Teton, Slaughter's Realm in Blackfoot, Idaho's Haunted Hospital in St. Anthony, and Haunted Mansions of Albion. There are scream tones, coffins, swag, Halloween music, and enough haunted-attraction promotion to make it feel like East Idaho has collectively decided that October should be spent screaming inside abandoned buildings.

Then, because apparently the correct thing to do on a Friday morning is to contemplate one's own mortality, Viktor launches into unsolicited life advice for people turning 35. His advice begins with the comforting declaration that everything gets more painful, before eventually evolving into surprisingly sincere observations about exercise, sleep, retirement savings, protecting your peace, investing early, choosing your friends carefully, trying new things, and realizing that your life is not behind schedule just because it doesn't resemble somebody else's. Viktor gets particularly reflective about how his circle of people he genuinely trusts has gotten smaller as he's gotten older, and he warns younger listeners that nobody is necessarily coming to save them. His recommendation is essentially: take care of yourself, build your own life, invest something—even if it's only a tiny amount—and for the love of God, get some sleep.

The discussion then takes a sharp turn into one of the most Viktor Wilt topics imaginable: what should happen to your body after you die? Burial? Cremation? Donating your body to science? Getting turned into an oak tree? Being secretly scattered around Disneyland only to have Disney employees vacuum you into a landfill? Viktor explores all of it. He tells stories about funeral homes charging absurd amounts for urns, recalls his parents' ashes being taken to Grand Teton, and jokes about the horrifying possibility of accidentally leaving your parents' ashes in the back of your truck until the urn falls out and winds up at a thrift store. Then he discovers the concept of modern mummification and immediately starts fantasizing about becoming a preserved museum exhibit at the Museum of Idaho, complete with a guitar, radio microphone, and disgruntled Facebook comments surrounding his immortalized corpse.

Somewhere during this cheerful conversation about death, Viktor completely forgets to announce the Metallica giveaway he was supposed to be announcing. A listener has to remind him that the Metallica album of the day exists. After initially blurting out the wrong album, Viktor corrects himself: 72 Seasons is the album, the title track is the song, and whoever is caller number 20 wins the vinyl and gets entered into the drawing for Metallica tickets. The resulting giveaway eventually produces Matt Dixon as the vinyl winner, while the Metallica ticket drawing is still looming ominously over the show like a giant metallic sword hanging from the ceiling.

Then the freak-news machine starts screaming. Viktor discovers that scientists in 1960 calculated a supposed Doomsday date of November 13, 2026—just six days before the scheduled release of Grand Theft Auto 6. Naturally, Viktor is outraged. Humanity has apparently spent decades waiting for GTA 6, and now some ancient population-growth calculation is threatening to detonate the entire planet right before the video game finally arrives. The fact that modern birth rates don't exactly resemble the terrifying population-explosion scenario predicted in 1960 does little to stop Viktor from declaring that he will be absolutely furious if humanity survives all this time only to get nuked before GTA 6.

The freak-news buffet continues with an Airbnb where Kurt Cobain reportedly wrote some of Nirvana's music, a discussion about whether the place might actually be haunted, and Viktor's disappointment that the rental doesn't come with an amplifier for the conveniently placed electric guitar. Then comes the door kick challenge, which Viktor treats with considerably less comedy because, unlike ordinary ding-dong-ditch stupidity, people are now kicking doors and potentially provoking extremely dangerous confrontations. His message to kids and parents is simple: stop doing unbelievably stupid internet challenges that can turn a prank into a potentially deadly encounter.

Artificial intelligence gets dragged into the chaos when Viktor discusses a man in Singapore who allegedly created an AI image depicting a crocodile in a public reservoir, causing people to panic and authorities to investigate a threat that didn't actually exist. Viktor is stunned at the possibility of someone facing severe legal consequences over a fake crocodile image, particularly because America already produces approximately 900 actual alligator stories per day. His conclusion is essentially that if you want to see terrifying reptiles, Florida and Louisiana have already got you covered without anyone needing to generate them with AI.

Then Ben arrives, and the show transforms into a combination of concert recap, injury report, giveaway carnival, legal hotline, horror-book discussion, and friendship tribunal. Viktor and Ben reminisce about attending X-Fest in Boise with Becca and their daughters, seeing Godsmack, Stone Temple Pilots, and Dorothy. They also reveal that someone inevitably falls at concerts—and this time it was Ben's turn. The conversation eventually reveals that Viktor apparently fell too, possibly landing on Becca in a h...
