Two-time Emmy and Three-time NAACP Image Award-winning, television Executive Producer Rushion McDonald interviewed Coach Kay Thompson.

Shared her journey from corporate layoffs and financial hardship to becoming a seven-figure business coach and digital revenue strategist. The conversation focused on helping professionals, entrepreneurs, and subject matter experts identify, package, and monetize their knowledge through digital assets, AI-powered tools, courses, and online education.

Her core message was simple: most people are sitting on valuable expertise they have never recognized as a business opportunity.

Purpose of the Interview

The interview was designed to:

• Educate listeners on how to turn expertise into income.
• Show entrepreneurs how to create scalable digital assets.
• Demonstrate how AI can help organize and monetize knowledge.
• Inspire professionals to build additional income streams beyond their jobs.
• Share Coach Kay's personal story of resilience and entrepreneurship.
• Promote financial independence through ownership, education, and innovation.

Key Takeaways 1. Your Knowledge Has Value

Many people underestimate the value of their experience because it feels routine to them. Coach Kay believes that knowledge gained through work, education, and life experiences can be packaged into products that help others solve problems.

Examples include:

• E-books
• Online courses
• Workshops
• Membership programs
• Digital toolkits
• AI-powered resources

2. Stop Trading Time for Money

One of her strongest messages was that entrepreneurs often get paid only when they are actively working. Creating digital assets allows people to earn income without constantly exchanging hours for dollars.

3. Serve the Person You Used to Be

Coach Kay encourages clients to teach the lessons they've already learned. The fastest path to building a business is often helping someone overcome a challenge you've already solved yourself.

4. AI Creates New Business Opportunities

She discussed how artificial intelligence can help entrepreneurs organize their expertise, create content, develop digital products, and scale their businesses more efficiently.

5. Adversity Can Become Opportunity

Before becoming an entrepreneur, Coach Kay worked in banking. After being laid off, she faced major financial setbacks, including bankruptcy, eviction, and repossession. Those experiences motivated her to build a business that she owned and controlled.

6. Multiple Income Streams Are Essential

She stressed the importance of developing additional sources of revenue outside a traditional job and making productive use of time outside working hours.

7. Marketing and Mentorship Matter

Coach Kay introduced her "M&M Method":

• Mentorship
• Marketing

She believes entrepreneurs need both guidance and visibility to grow successfully.

8. Organic Marketing Still Works

Rather than relying heavily on paid advertising, she attributes much of her success to:

• Authentic storytelling
• Live social media engagement
• Relationship building
• Consistent content creation

9. Build Impact, Not Just Attention

She repeatedly emphasized creating meaningful change for others rather than focusing solely on personal recognition.

10. Continuous Learning Is Critical

Despite her success, Coach Kay described herself as a lifelong student who invests in mentorship and education to continue growing personally and professionally.
