Ep. 15 Beauty & The Bullshit

Rowena Bernardo has launched more than 700 cosmetic products, trained managers around the globe on branding by design and was responsible for the resurrection of a top global makeup brand. Her blog, Beauty & The Bullshit has been quoted and referenced by international beauty bloggers and was once heralded by Elle magazine as the cosmetic industry's answer to The Devil Wears Prada. Rowena helped me expose the marketing tactics of the beauty industry in the #NoFilterNeeeded book, and in this episode we're busting it open further in discussion around: •How the beauty industry doesn't want you to be happy and wants you to love yourself and hate yourself at the same time. •Women fearing old age when the fun is just beginning. •Judging ourselves and handing over judgment on us to a 3rd party. •Finding the language of our own genius. •How we have become a seeing society of comparing visually and we have forgotten how to feel things. •Appreciating things makes you become a better consumer. •Trends being a goldmine for marketers to continue their marketing "bullshit" •Sustainability & Consumerism. •How in our rush for growth and our ambition we are taking for granted the most basic of things that are making our lives wonderful. •How the economy's loss is nature's gain. Yes, there is TONNES in this episode! Make yourself comfortable and enjoy!

Ep. 3 - Mental Health Struggles in Self-Isolation

Ep. 3 - Mental Health Struggles in Self-Isolation

My friend and videographer, Andy Napleton, opens up about his personal struggles with his mental health in self-isolation. We discuss why being creative at this time is important for us all to process our emotions and feelings and how it can positively impact others as well. We also share how easy it is to hit burnout after periods of intense creativity and Andy shares how (ironically) the fear of burnout pushes him to keep on going. We talk more about anxiety, addictive tendencies, and the importance of structure and routine at this time; we just need to take one day at a time the moment - however alien that may seem for some of us to do!

Ep. 2 - Self-Isolation Insights

Ep. 2 - Self-Isolation Insights

In this episode, I'm sharing some of my own recent insights and realisations at the beginning of lockdown and in self-isolation. I touch upon how mentally draining it is to live in two worlds - the online world and the offline world - and how I feel LESS isolated in self-isolation which demonstrates a connection with others only works when you are present in the moment, and intentional with it.

Ep. 1 - Addiction, Anxiety and Body Image

Ep. 1 - Addiction, Anxiety and Body Image

I talk to to Zoe Aston MSc, psychotherapist, and creator of the popular Instagram account @YourMentalHealthWorkout about mental health and the issues we face today with addiction, anxiety, and body image. We discuss body image vs. body reality and the unbalance that can result in body dysmorphia. We also explore a possible link between social media and codependency - with the new label of 'digital disorders' - as well as anxiety, dealing with triggers and ways in which you can reset your body and mind. This episode will raise your self-awareness and help you to understand and navigate yourself better.
