Ep. 1021: Sharing Your Adventure Knowledge - Jerome Rand

Ep. 1021: Sharing Your Adventure Knowledge - Jerome Rand

Jerome joins us for his fourth interview on ASP! What’s also unique is that this is the third time we’ve interviewed Jerome in person. As you’ll hear, it’s a totally different type of conversation than a virtual interview.

Today we’re talking about the importance of giving back on your adventure knowledge. All of us that adventure have an obligation to at least introduce and invite those around us to also get out there. Don’t make your adventure pursuits about you and only you. However, it’s totally fine to have solo adventures, but make sure you share that knowledge, experience, and life-changing power with others at some point along your journey.

Jerome, a world-class solo sailer, is going to tell us some stories around his first big attempt to share that knowledge with a few up and coming sailors.

Ep. 497: Rowing Across the Atlantic in 43 Days - Laura Try

Ep. 497: Rowing Across the Atlantic in 43 Days - Laura Try

Laura doesn’t particularly like rowing, which sounds crazy after you realize she rowed a boat 3,000 miles across the Atlantic with a team of three other women in just 43 days 2 hours and 20 minutes. On top of that, they managed to do this by rowing in 2-hour shifts, 24-hours a day, every single day. It’s not rowing that Luara loves, but a pure and unfiltered adventure and the push of the human spirit to experience it. We hope you enjoy this wonderful conversation around adventure and the unexpected joys and struggles when you put yourself out there. Ep. 496: Triple Triple Crowner - Heather "Anish" Anderson

Ep. 496: Triple Triple Crowner - Heather "Anish" Anderson

In 2018, Heather Anderson became the first woman to hike all three of the "Triple Crown" thru-hikes; Appalachian, Pacific Crest, and Continental Divide Trails in a single calendar year. The 7,900-mile journey took 251 days to complete and led her to become a 2019 National Geographic Adventurer of the Year.  She also holds the overall record for self-supported fastest known time on the Pacific Crest Trail (60 days) and the women's self-supported FKT on the Appalachian Trail (54 days). Her book, Thirst: 2600 Miles to Home came out earlier this month, which recounts her story of leaving her unsatisfying job, marriage, and life after her first thru-hike in order to return back to the trail and begin hiking again.  You can find out more about Thirst here:  Amazon: Thirst: 2600 Miles to Home Instagram: @anishhikes Save 20% off the best freeze-dried meals you’ll ever eat with Peak Refuel. Ep. 494: From Collapsed Spine to Accomplished Climber - Astrid Southam

Ep. 494: From Collapsed Spine to Accomplished Climber - Astrid Southam

Adventure (ad·ven·ture): an unusual and exciting, typically hazardous, experience or activity.   That basically sums up life itself. The most unexpected, seemingly unfair, and hazardous things happen to us at every turn. We want adventure, but don't always love when it shows up. A life-altering injury is, by the definition above, an adventure. Well, it's not always exciting, but you get the picture.    To go from a collapsed spine at the age of 19 to being on a sponsored climbing expedition to the Ivory Coast is not an overnight journey, nor is it pleasant, but it is adventure. Astrid's story is one of hope, patience and sheer grit to rise from what many would call a crippling situation (literally) to seeing the beauty in what happens to all of us at some point and accepting it as what life is all about.    Adventure doesn't always lead us down a peaceful path but teaches us to find peace no matter what path we're on.    Instagram: @astridsoutham   Project Côte d'Ivoire https://www.projectci.co.uk/   Instagram: @projectci_uk      Save 20% off the best freeze-dried meals you’ll ever eat with Peak Refuel.
