Ketones (Repeat)
Carl is in Las Vegas this week at a developer conference, so the dudes didn't get around to recording a show. Please enjoy this encore show from May, Ketones. Carl Franklin and Richard Morris discuss Ketones. What are they? How are they produced? Are they safe? How can we effectively measure our ketone levels? Does it actually matter? All of these questions and more are answered on this episode of 2 Keto Dudes. Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/2-keto-dudes/donations

Exogenous Ketones
Carl Franklin and Richard Morris discuss the science behind exogenous ketone supplements. Do they help with weight loss? Are they a shortcut to nutritional ketosis? What can they do for diabetics? Can they help battle cancer or dementia? These are great questions answered on this week's episode. Errata: Richard spoke about the his blood glucose ranges changing slightly after going off Metformin. His previous dawn values were 6.1 mmol/l (110 mg/dl) and his daily range was 4.9 mmol/l (88 mg/dl) to 5.2 mmol/l (94 mg/dl). His new Dawn values are up to 6.5 mmol/l (117 mg/dl) and daily range from 5.4 mmol/l (97 mg/dl) to 5.7 mmol/l (103 mg/dl). Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/2-keto-dudes/donations

Ideal Body Weight
Is being overweight dangerous? Is overweight in and of itself a marker for disease? For anyone who has used a LCHF (low-carb, high-fat) diet to get healthy, the answer is obviously no. So, how much body fat is too much, or for that matter, too little? Carl Franklin and Richard Morris explore these and other questions around body weight on this week's episode of 2 Keto Dudes. Femail!
Richard Morris and Carl Franklin hand over the mics this week to Brenda Zorn and Kim Howerton, both admins on the 2 Keto Dudes Facebook group. Brenda and Kim are here to talk about the unique challenges that women face around the ketogenic way of life. Hormones, periods, PCOS, fertility, pregnancy, menopause, weight loss, and more. This is the first of what we hope will be many more 2 Keto Dudes shows where Brenda and Kim talk about these issues in depth. Errata: The podcast that Kim refers to that discussed how women lose weight slower than men is a lecture by Dr Robert Cywes at the Cape town LCHF conference - see the show notes. Also, Carl said that if a mother eats a high carb diet while pregnant the baby may have a predisposition toward insulin sensitivity. He meant insulin resistance. Also, many people thought Brenda said "Dr. Fung says women shouldn't fast." She was actually echoing the myth that Fung refers to that women should not fast. She may have not chosen her words correctly, but that was her intent, to refer to the myth pointed out by Dr. Fung. Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/2-keto-dudes/donations

Paying It Back
Richard Morris and Carl Franklin discuss ways in which we can give back to our local community after having healed ourselves. Carl talks about a dinner/lecture he held for 6 local people at his house, they talk about Ketofest 2017, and bring up the idea of getting a bunch of newcomers - who might need a kick start - together for a retreat. Richard suggests writing a blog. Speaking of blogs, the dudes have put up a new one at blog.2keto.com where they are posting on a regular basis, and hope you will share their posts on Facebook, Pinterest, or just with your friends.
