Metabolic Rate

Metabolic Rate

Richard Morris and Carl Franklin discuss the theory of CICO (Calories In vs. Calories Out), a very popular theory about how to lose weight: If you simply create a caloric deficit by expending more calories via exercise than you eat you will lose weight. Does it work? If not, why? Does your body utilize every calorie that you eat? Are all calories burned at the same rate all the time? Does exercise increase or decrease your metabolic rate (calories out)? These are the questions that the dudes tackle on this very technical and even more amazing episode. Errata: An alert listener, Matthew Whited, pointed out that it's gas, not fat, that makes stools float. Keto Parenting

Keto Parenting

Keto parents have kids. That we know. What we don't know is how that plays out in the family. Do you encourage your children to eat ketogenic? High fat? Less fruit? Doesn't that sound crazy? Guests Mark Miller and Karen Mangiacotti run a 7-kid household in which most of them have drastically cut sugar and carbs, and have even increased their fat intake. So what happened? You'll have to listen to find out. Be warned. Karen and Mark are naturally hysterical. Get some facial tissues. Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/2-keto-dudes/donations

Switching it Up with Megan Ramos

Switching it Up with Megan Ramos

While at the Low Carb Breckenridge conference in Breckenridge, CO in February 2017, hosts Richard Morris and Carl Franklin had a conversation with Megan Ramos from Jason Fung's clinic in Toronto, ON. Megan has thousands of hours of clinical experience dealing directly with diabetic patients who use fasting and ketogenic eating to reverse Type 2 diabetes and lose weight. Her advice, to switch up your diet more often than not, is the topic of this conversation. If you are on a ketogenic diet with intermittent fasting and find yourself at a plateau, take the time to listen to this episode. It may change your life. Sitting Down with Gary Fettke (Part 2 of 2)

Sitting Down with Gary Fettke (Part 2 of 2)

Richard Morris and Carl Franklin continue their conversation with Dr. Gary Fettke, the now famous (or is it infamous) orthopedic surgeon from Tasmania who has been silenced by the AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency) for having the tenacity to tell his diabetes patients to eat a low-carbohydrate diet so they might avoid him having to amputate their limbs - which he does all too often. This is the first time Gary has spoken out on a podcast since the AHPRA informed him he was not qualified to give nutritional advice to his patients. This is part two of a two-part conversation. Part one was published as last week's show. Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/2-keto-dudes/donations

Sitting Down with Gary Fettke (Part 1 of 2)

While at the Low-Carb Breckenridge conference in Colorado in February, 2017, Carl Franklin and Richard Morris got the chance to sit down and talk to Dr. This is part one of a two-part conversation to be continued next week. Errata: The first minute or so of Gary's audio is sub-par. We are deeply embarrassed by this gross mistake and have flogged ourselves appropriately. Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/2-keto-dudes/donations

Mad As Hell (Rebroadcast)

Mad As Hell (Rebroadcast)

Please enjoy this encore presentation of 2 Keto Dudes from August 16th, 2016. Mad As Hell. Carl Franklin and Richard Morris get angry about how the medical establishment hasn't evolved along with science. We KNOW the chain of events that leads to type 2 diabetes (T2DM). Not only do we KNOW how to reverse it, but we knew in the 70's! Why after all this are most doctors still clueless about how to treat it? Richard tells the story of Dr. Gary Fettke, an Australian doctor who removes diabetic feet. He has been treating his patients with a ketogenic diet, and in 2014 was silenced by the establishment. He is not allowed to talk to his patients about nutrition. If that wasn't maddening enough, an interview with Ivor Cummins reveals the diabetes research by Dr. Joseph Kraft in the 70's. Kraft discovered a method for detecting T2DM 20 years before a diagnosis. His research was effectively ignored. The good news is that you can leverage Kraft's research to figure out your risk of diabetes right now with a simple blood test. We're mad as hell, and we're not going to take it anymore! Also, Ivor does use a profane phrase (GD) toward the end of his interview, which we bleeped. Errata: Richard said that of the 54 Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs) testing low carb vs low fat, that 43 showed that low carb was better, and 26 were significant. The reality is that 47 of those 54 showed that low carb was better and that 27 were significant. Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/2-keto-dudes/donations
