Heart Disease (rebroadcast)

Carl Franklin and Richard Morris talk about the science behind heart disease, a component of cardiovascular disease. What is it? When did it start becoming a real problem? How did it happen? Does a ketogenic diet help mitigate it? Of course, the entire discussion is based on solid science, which they have provided links to. The TOFI show (Thin Outside, Fat Inside)

Hosts Richard Morris and Carl Franklin interview two ketonians classified as TOFI (Thin on the Outside, but Fat on the Inside). They both have metabolic syndrome and are anything but obese. Metabolic syndrome strikes thin people, too! Get the skinny (pun intended) on TOFIs in this excellent interview with Matt Murray and Terri Lance. The Anniversary Show!

The Anniversary Show!

It's the one-year anniversary of the 2 Keto Dudes podcast. Carl Franklin and Richard Morris reflect on an amazing year both in their personal lives and in the lives of all of the people who they've helped help themselves. The dudes read what they think is a critical post from the Ketogenic Forums: Ten Things I Wish I Knew Before I Went Keto. Those who don't study history are doomed to repeat it, and keto is no different. We hope you can learn from our experience how to make your transformation go smoothly. Keep Calm and Keto On! Errata Richard mentioned that he thought Romano was made in the south of Italy. @fiorella from the ketogenic forum sent us a correction "As the name suggests, it's a cheese that's been consumed all the way back to the ancient roman times (common staple of legionnaires) and it is produced in the Lazio region (where the capital city, Rome, resides). The name is in fact protected, and Pecorino Romano is only made in certain area. It's made out of sheep's milk, ergo the name "pecorino" in Pecorino Romano. The Italian word for sheep is "pecora". Its close cousins are other pecorino cheeses, perhaps the second more famous one that is made in Tuscany. But, not as salty and pungent as the Romano. They are milder and eaten as slices. While Pecorino Romano is often grated and shredded, and added to dishes. While Pecorino Romano resides in the "Parmesan" category in American grocery stores, it's not made out of cows milk, as the famous Parmigiano reggiano." Insulin Resistance from the Ground Up with Ivor Cummins

Insulin Resistance from the Ground Up with Ivor Cummins

Carl Franklin and Richard Morris talk to Ivor Cummins about his work with Hungarian Biologist Gabor Erdosi based on research that paints a more detailed picture of how insulin resistance happens. It turns out that adipose tissue (fat cells) have a much bigger role to play in metabolic dysfunction than previously thought. This is a fascinating discussion. Family Support

Carl Franklin and Richard Morris talk to Carl's wife, Kelly J Franklin, about the experience of supporting your partner (or any family member) who's gone ketogenic. We've talked about it from the Ketonian perspective, but not yet from the partner's point of view. This is a great show for couples to listen to when one is eating carbs and one is not. Paying it Forward

Paying it Forward

Richard Morris and Carl Franklin talk to Lino Tadros, an old friend who suffers from type 2 diabetes and obesity, has tried every diet and procedure without success - even lap-band surgery, and started the ketogenic way of life in January, 2017. Carl flew across the country to cook for him and his family this week. Needless to say, it was yummy, and the whole family feels better after just a few days. This show is about paying your good fortune forward to help the next generation dodge the bullet of metabolic syndrome while it's still relatively easy to do. Errata: Richard mentioned that 50% of Egyptian women have diabetes, but the actual statistic is 50% of Egyptians have central obesity - which is a good sign that they are on the diabetic trajectory.
