(17:09-32:01) – The captain of the Indy Eleven in Matt Watson joins the show to walk you through how he was feeling last week when he physically could not take the field, what Martin Rennie’s immediate reaction once Watson informed him about his decision to not play last week, and how he is attempting to balance being a dad, soccer player, coach, and be a leader in the community. (06:43-25:46) – Head Coach Martin Rennie returns to the show to go over the loss on Wednesday at Louisville City, walks you through the timeline in which Matt Watson informed Coach Rennie that he wasn’t going to play on Wednesday, and how he help bridges the cultural divides as a coach in the locker room while also seeing how much closer the team becomes when they come together to talk about racial injustice. (28:46-39:42) – The Indy Eleven re-signed Josh Penn, an Indiana University alumnus, to become a full time professional soccer player earlier this week and stops by once again on the program to explain why he chose to forgo the rest of his collegiate career and get a head start on his professional career. Penn also accessed the improvements he has made from playing with the team last year to now and goes back in time to relive the moment of playing on a professional soccer team at the age of 18. (42:44-53:40) – During this segment of Soccer Saturday, Greg plays a couple of snippets from a conversation Greg had with Matt Watson on June 13th on this show in regards to social injustice. Watson discussed how the George Floyd incident affected the Indy Eleven locker room because the message he delivered fits the bill for what just happened with Jacob Blake and how people are becoming more comfortable with speaking up on how black lives matter . (04:16-13:44) – Head Coach Martin Rennie is back in his weekly spot to recap the big win over the Pittsburgh Riverhounds which capped off a season sweep last Saturday 1-0. He talks about why his team is very successful after going a man down due to penalty. Coach Rennie also begins to preview the next couple matches as they will battle rivals Louisville City in a Home and Home over the next couple of weeks. (16:44-29:24) – On this segment of the show Greg Rakestraw gets the opportunity to chat with Indy Eleven Goalie Evan Newton. They discuss the huge penalty save that Evan had to secure the 1-0 win over Pittsburgh last Saturday. They also discuss the extended time between matches as they only have one match in 20 days which is Wednesday against Louisville FC on the road. He also discusses his 50 clean sheets when he is goalie as well as giving advice to the new fathers on the team. (19:19-29:38) – One of Indy Eleven’s fullback’s and winger’s in Nick Moon joins the show to explain if he would have expected to have an opportunity to receive as much playing time as he has when he signed with the team in the off-season, what it’s been like to have the best view on the field for what Tyler Pasher has done so far this season, and what it’s like playing in Lucas Oil Stadium.
