Ep. 733: Intro to Adventure Racing - Mark Lattanzi

Ep. 733: Intro to Adventure Racing - Mark Lattanzi

Since this is the Adventure Sports Podcast we sometimes want to take an episode to focus on a specific sport and how to start doing it, rather than on the stories around adventures.

Today we’ll be getting a mix of both from adventure racer, Mark Lattanzi. Mark has been adventure racing for decades and literally wrote the book on adventure racing navigation, Squiggly Lines: Map and Compass Navigation in Adventure Races and Rogaine.

Whether you’re already an adventure racer or not, you’ll enjoy hearing Mark’s stories and there will be some part of you eager to get out there and give one a try!

Ep. 612: Family of 6 Thru-Hiking the PCT and More - Strawbridge Family

Ep. 612: Family of 6 Thru-Hiking the PCT and More - Strawbridge Family

When a crippling amount of debt kept the Strawbridge family from going on family vacations, they quickly began looking for cheap ways to still enjoy an experience together. That necessity led them to camping and hiking. After realizing that this type of “vacation” was more rewarding the refueling than a tradition trip, they decided to go all in for an experience of a lifetime to celebrate getting back on track financially. That led to the idea of thru-hiking the Pacific Crest Trail as a family. I hope you enjoy this amazing story of great risk, reward, love, and faith. Follow along their 2020 Continental Divide Trail adventure here: Instagram: @strawbridgetrekstrek2650.comFacebook: @strawbridgetreksYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCcjYH6S5RzjyCJoNP8CXEKwStrawbridgetreks.comSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/adventure-sports-podcast/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

Ep. 609: Running & Blindness - Kyle Robidoux

Ep. 609: Running & Blindness - Kyle Robidoux

If you’ve ever felt limited by your circumstances or physical limitations, today’s episode is a must-listen. Back in 2010, Kyle was sick and tired of feeling terrible about himself and having a hard time playing with his daughter, so he decided to do something about it. Losing a large amount of weight by walking, and eventually running, is no easy task. After taking into account that Kyle is legally blind, the challenge is exponentially greater. However, that didn’t stop him from pushing forward, crushing limitations, and finding creative ways to exercise and run, without a full view of what was around him. 10 years later Kyle is running ultras on and off-trail, running between 20-25 hours per week, and advocating for folks in his situation through his career. Argue for your limitations, and sure enough, they're yours. - Richard BachKylerobidoux.comInstagram: @blindbeerrunnerTwitter: @kyleRrobidouxAthletic Brewing Adventure Grant Application: https://athleticbrewing.com/pages/athletic-brewing-2020-adventure-grantTry CS Instant Coffee for 50% off your first order for the months of September and October only! Ep. 606: Racing the Tour Divide in Your 60's - Marty Johnson

Ep. 606: Racing the Tour Divide in Your 60's - Marty Johnson

When Marty's 60th birthday came rolling around, he knew he needed to do something adventurous that took him out of his normal routine and into an entirely different frame of mind. From that longing came the idea to race in the Tour Divide, a 2,750-mile, mostly off-road, mountain bike race from Canada to Mexico along the Continental Divide.  Now, at the age of 65, Marty is gearing up this June for another TD attempt. His 6th time on the trail.  Our most adventurous years don't have to be the earliest. In fact, they can be the most recent. I hope Marty's story helps you see your own adventure in 2020.  Instagram:  bucketride.bike Photo: Linda Guerrette Try CS Instant Coffee for 50% off your first order for the months of September and October only!
