Ep. 267: The 7 Summits & Mt. Vinson Massif - Part 2 - Tom Fabbri

Tom Fabbri is on the show today to tell us about his progress in his attempt to climb the 7 Summits as well as his experiences from Mt. Vinson. Tom is a world class adventurer who is on a journey to complete the Adventure Grand Slam, summiting the tallest peaks on each of the seven continents and skiing to the North and South Poles. In one year, he climbed four of these peaks in his quest to fulfill this dream – Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa, Mt. Elbrus in Russia, Mt. Kosciuszko in Australia, and Aconcagua in Argentina. His most recent climb took him to Mt. McKinley in Alaska where he summited on July 5, 2013. With two climbs left, Vinson Massif in Antarctica and Mt. Everest and skiing the poles, Tom is well on his way to becoming part of an elite group of mountaineers as he successfully completes this challenge.

Ep. 976: Running Across Montana - Rebecca Boylan

Becca Boylan, a fifth generation Montanan, recently completed a 475 miles run across her home state to share the story of her mother's fight against Acute Myeloid Leukemia. The inspiration for the run came after Becca's experience helping her mother fight the disease for the past year and using running as a way to "metabolize" the emotions she was going through.Through the metaphor of running, Becca, the oldest of six kids, hoped to show others that we are capable of far more than we think possible and we hold the strength we need to face any of life's challenges, whether it's a cancer diagnosis or a mountain marathon. Instagram: @beccaboylanThe Montana Run Website: https://gamma.app/docs/Join-The-Montana-RunSponsor Messages:Roark The best travel gear isn’t born in a factory, it’s inspired by journeys taken by real people exploring the world. Ep. 972: A Fine Line - Graham Zimmerman

Ep. 972: A Fine Line - Graham Zimmerman

Graham has been climbing mountains for most of his life. He’s been to some of the farthest reaches on our planet and experienced some of the most remote peaks one is able to summit. He recently wrote a book about his life and countless adventures, A Fine Line; Searching for Balance Among Mountains. In this engaging and provocative coming of age memoir, Zimmerman maintains a delicate balancing act: appreciating the joy that climbing brings him while recognizing that the sport has a darker side. With thoughtful introspection, A Fine Line blends tales of mountain adventures with stories of memorials for friends killed in climbing accidents and firsthand experience of the effects of climate change.Find A Fine Line at mountaineers.org/books/a-fine-line-searching-for-balance-among-mountainsIG - @grahamzimmermanGrahamzimmerman.comSponsor Messages:Roark The best travel gear isn’t born in a factory, it’s inspired by journeys taken by real people exploring the world. Ep. 971: The Life of Climbing Icon Royal Robbins - David Smart

Ep. 971: The Life of Climbing Icon Royal Robbins - David Smart

"Royal Robbins had an outsized impact on climbing history. This great new biography by David Smart brings the man behind the famous climbs to life in a way that’s both relatable and inspiring."--Alex HonnoldAcclaimed writer David Smart illuminates the fascinating life of Royal Robbins---in all its soulful ambition, rivalry, and romance. Royal Robbins chronicles his early years growing up as a latchkey kid in Southern California, the push and pull between being an aspiring banker or one of the original Camp 4 dirtbags, and his later decades as a father, husband, kayaker, and the trailblazing founder of the outdoor apparel company that bears his name. This intimate, colorful tour of climbing history covering Yosemite, the Tetons, the Gunks, the Alps, the United Kingdom, and more from the 1960s onward features star characters such as Liz Robbins-- Robbins’s wife and a pioneering adventurer in her own right-- Yvon Chouinard, John Harlin, Steve Roper, Warren Harding, Tom Frost, and Doug Tompkins. An important addition to our knowledge of the Golden Age of rock climbing in Yosemite and the development of the clean climbing ethos, Royal Robbins sheds new light on an elemental figure of outdoor culture.Robbins’s passing in 2017 was covered from the BBC News to NPR to the New York Times, which deemed him the "conscience of rock climbers"Find Royal Robbins The American Climber at mountaineers.org.Check out my new podcast, Florida Uncut, anywhere you get podcasts. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/florida-uncut/id1707970349Sponsor Messages:Roark The best travel gear isn’t born in a factory, it’s inspired by journeys taken by real people exploring the world.
