The murder of Ruthie McCoy | Ep 199

Skip the banter: 00:05:02 (give or take 30 seconds depending on how many sponsors)

You ever hear something so strange it sounds like a made-up urban legend...until you realize it actually happened?

This week, we talk about Ruthie Mae McCoy, a woman trying to piece her life together in one of Chicago’s most dangerous housing projects. She’d finally started turning things around, getting treatment, going back to school, planning her escape from a place that had swallowed so many lives. But then, she made a 911 call. She said someone was coming through her bathroom wall.

What happened next is one of the most haunting true stories we’ve ever covered—eerie, tragic, and almost impossible to believe. If you think “Candyman” was just a movie, wait until you hear what really happened in apartment 1109.
