Jake Evans 911 Call (FULL) Teen charged with murdering mother and sister

Texas Teen Tells 911 It Was 'Weird' to Kill His Mother and Sister
Jake Evans is accused of capital murder for shooting and killing his family.

Oct. 6, 2012 — -- In a chilling 911 call, Texas teen Jake Evans spent 20 minutes calmly recounting how he shot and killed his mother and sister, calling himself "evil."

"It's weird," an even-voiced Evans told the 911 dispatcher. "I wasn't even really angry with them. It just kind of happened. I've been kind of planning on killing for a while now."

Evans, 17, of Parker County, Texas, was arrested after he called police early Thursday morning to report he had killed his mother Jami Evans, 48, and his 15-year-old sister Mallory Evans.

"I just thought it would be quick, you know? I didn't want them to feel any pain," he said. "That's why I used a gun, but it was like everything went wrong."

He has been charged with capital murder, according to court documents, and is being held without bond.

Evans did not give a specific reason for the killings, but said that he didn't "really like people's attitudes" and said people were "verbally rude to each other."

"I guess this is really selfish to say, but to me, I felt like they were just suffocating me in a way," he said calmly. "I don't know.Obviously, you know, I'm pretty, I guess, evil."

He told the operator that he told his sister that his mother needed to see her. When his sister came out of her room, Evan said he shot her. She rolled down the stairs and he shot her again, he said.

"I'll never forget this. My sister, she came down the stairs and she was screaming and I was telling her that I'm sorry but to just hold still--that, you know, I was just going to make it go away," he said. "But she just kept on freaking out, but finaly she she fell down, and I got her in the head about, probably, three times."

He said he then shot his mom three or four times with a .22 revolver. The gun belonged to a family member, according to ABC News' Dallas-Forth Worth affilate WFAA.

"Just to let you know, I hate the feeling of killing someone. I'm going to be messed up," he told the operator. "I'm really worried about nightmares and stuff like that. Are there any type of medications for that and stuff?"

"I don't mean to sound like a wimp or anything, but this is, wow, I've never, like, done anything violent in my whole life," he added.

When police arrived at the home, Evans was standing outside with his hands in the air and was arrested without incident, according to police. Authorities believe Evans' father was out of town on a business trip when the shootings occurred.

Jami Evans was a teacher and an assistant principal at schools in the Aledo Independent School District from 1989 to 2004.

"Aledo ISD is deeply saddened to learn of the death of a former employee and a former student," the school district said in a statement. "Her dedication to her students and her love of learning was an inspiration to all who knew her."

"We also mourn the death of Mallory Evans, a former elementary and intermediate school student," the statement said. "She was a sweet child that will be missed by her friends and school family."

Friends were shocked to hear about what Jake Evans had done. They described him as a nice and shy student who was an avid golfer. He played golf for Aledo High School where he was a student until he and his sister withdrew in January to be home schooled.

"I just want people to know this action is not how we all know him," Cole Wooten, who said he had been in school with Evans since kindergarten, told WFAA.

"I really liked him," classmate Clint McClellen said. "Nicest kid. Quiet, shy, kept to himself, but I liked that about him."

Dr. Laurence Steinberg, an expert in psychological development during adolescence, said that it is common for others to say that there did not seem to be anything wrong with a young perpetrator. He said signs of trouble often surface in the days following an event, as an investigation unfolds.

"It's extremely unlikely that a perfectly normal 17-year-old kid would take out a shotgun and kill members of his family," Steinberg told ABCNews.com.

"There's a little bit in what he said that sounds a little psycho-pathological in a sense that he does not seem to have the emotional response to what he did," he said. "Being callous and unemotional is a classic sign of a psychopath, so maybe he has some tendencies in that direction."

But Steinberg cautioned that sometimes it can be difficult to differentiate between shock and someone who is just unemotional.

The Murder Of Stacey Stites [True Crime Documentary]

The Murder Of Stacey Stites [True Crime Documentary]

The Murder Of Stacey Stites [True Crime Documentary]Rodney Reed has been on death row awaiting execution after a jury convicted him guilty of the 1996 murder of Stacey Stites in Texas. Reed, on the other hand, asserts his innocence, and a slew of celebrities, as well as attorneys from The Innocence Project, have taken up the "Free Rodney Reed" mantle.Reed was set to be executed by lethal injection on November 20, 2019, but a stay of execution was given just before he was slated to die. Following a public outcry of innocence from celebrities like as Kim Kardashian West, who alleged she was with him when the execution stay was issued, his case has gotten national media attention. Reed is awaiting a new hearing, which is scheduled for 2021.Here are some critical details concerning this case that you should be aware of:1The murder weapon was never been tested for DNA evidence. The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals has frequently dismissed requests for DNA testing of crime scene evidence, including a belt that was used as a murder weapon. In 2018, the United States Supreme Court declined to hear a direct appeal of the Texas courts' refusal to allow DNA testing.2. Rodney's conviction and death sentence were brought about by flaws in the State's forensic experts' evidence. State witnesses from Rodney's original trial have since filed affidavits claiming that testimony presented about Stacey's death was false, rendering the prosecution's timing of Rodney's claimed murder improbable.3. Rodney Reed and Stacey Stites were having a sexual relationship that was consenting. No one came forward to substantiate their relationship at the time of the trial. New witnesses, including Stacey's cousin and coworker, have now backed up Rodney's assertion that they were aware of his and Stacey's intimate relationship.4. Rodney's culpability is physiologically and scientifically impossible, according to renowned forensic pathologists. Semen obtained from Stacey's body, which was attributed to their consenting connection, was the prosecution's only forensic evidence linking Rodney to the killing. This was utilized by the prosecution to link him to the murder and disprove their consensual romantic relationship. However, the testimony that supported this notion has subsequently been recanted, casting doubt on the State's case.5. Jimmy Fennell, Stacey's fiancé, was the leading suspect in the case for months following the murder. According to a video made by one of the police detectives, Jimmy was suspected of murdering Stacey and was motivated by her relationship with another guy.6. Bastrop Sheriff's Officer Curtis Davis, Jimmy's best buddy at the time of the murder, has now revealed that Jimmy offered a contradictory story of where he was on the night of the murder. On the night Stacey was murdered, Jimmy had told his friend that he was out drinking. However, based on Dr. Michael Baden's amended evidence, he later indicated that he was with Stacey in the apartment they shared during what we now know was the real time of her death, contradicting his previous assertion. Jimmy declined to testify when asked to explain the discrepancy because his replies could further condemn him.7. Two new witnesses have come forward and filed affidavits, adding to the growing body of evidence against Jimmy Fennell. An insurance salesperson said that Jimmy threatened to kill Stacey when she was applying for life insurance in these documents. The second witness was a Lee County Sheriff's Office Deputy at the time of the murder, to whom Jimmy made an incriminating statement about Stacey's body at her funeral.8. Jimmy was sentenced to ten years in jail after committing a sex crime and kidnapping while on duty. Jimmy has a history of aggression toward women, according to law enforcement documents.9. This was a racially sensitive situation. An all-white jury found Rodney, a Black man, guilty of murdering Stacey, a white lady. 10. Jimmy Fennell has made a confession that has come to light. In a meeting with Arthur Snow, a former member of the Aryan Brotherhood and Jimmy's prison buddy, Jimmy confessed to the murder of Stacey, saying, "I had to kill my n*****-loving fiancée."the murder of stacey stites, rodney reed case, rodney reed, rodney reed executed in texas, rodney reed documentary, stacey stites case, stacey stites, jimmy fennell, jimmy fennell confession, jimmy fennell rodney reedBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/best-of-reddit-stories-2025-cheating-true-crime-aita-and-nsfw-stories--6476242/support.
