Nottingham Forest 3-0 Barnsley: The 1865 Match Report

Nottingham Forest 3-0 Barnsley: The 1865 Match Report

1865: The Nottingham Forest Podcast is proud to partner with FanHub and The Terrace. Forest continued their winning ways by seeing off bottom side Barnsley in front of a bumper Tuesday evening crowd of 27,000 at The City Ground. After a quiet opening, Forest took the lead on 15 minutes when Keinan Davis dispossed Mads Andersen, before striding through and slotting the ball into the corner for his first goal in a Reds shirt since joining on loan from Aston Villa. Steve Cooper's side doubled their lead seven minutes before the break as Ryan Yates finished off a flowing move, which involved an incisive Jack Colback pass to release Brennan Johnson down the left, where he put a superb cross in which Yates tapped home, timing his run into the box perfectly. A slow start to the second half saw little action but Forest stepped it up again and added a third on 75 minutes. Djed Spence carried the ball down the right flank, seeing off the attention of several Barnsley defenders, he rolled the ball inside where Johnson stroked it first time into the far bottom corner to cap off a comfortable victory. The Reds saw an effort by Steve Cook saved and a Xande Silva strike hit the post as they went on to secure a win which moves them closer to the Championship playoff places. Steven is joined by Tom Newton to reflect on Forest's win, including the influence Brennan Johnson is having on the side, how Forest got the job done on the night and Steve Cooper's post-match comments, where he made reference to 'that' Charlton game and was keen to avoid a repeat, following the high of the Derby victory on Saturday. Wolverhampton Wanderers 1-1 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Premier League Match Report

Wolverhampton Wanderers 1-1 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Premier League Match Report

Steve Cooper went for seven first team changes to stop the rot, and to an extent it worked as the Reds showed a better level of performance and effort to gain a point - and it could have been three as Harry Toffolo should have added to his first-half header which would surely have seen Forest get the win. Steven Toplis is joined by Tom Newton to discuss a game which saw Cooper go back to basics, with the fans once again showing their love for the Head Coach. Rich Ferraro also chips in with his views of the pragmatic approach, and we get a view from Molineux from Dave of the Talking Wolves Podcast. Fulham 5-0 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Premier League Match Report

Fulham 5-0 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Premier League Match Report

It was nothing short of a disaster at Craven Cottage, as Forest produced arguably the worst performance of Steve Cooper's tenure, leaving the Head Coach looking nervously over his shoulder. Two goals each from Alex Iwobi and the Ghost of Raul Jimenez, plus a closer from Forest-supporting Tom Cairney, frankly embarrassed the Reds on a night with no redeeming features. George Edwards and Steven Toplis share their thoughts after a deep breath and a night's sleep. What does this display tell us about the commitment of the players? Do the Forest supporters really back Steve Cooper? And was the gaffer's apologetic wave at the end an acknowledgment that the end is nigh? Nottingham Forest 0-1 Everton: The 1865 Premier League Match Report

Nottingham Forest 0-1 Everton: The 1865 Premier League Match Report

Losing one home match feels unlucky, losing two in a row feels like something else. The Reds were deservedly defeated in a game where the first goal was clearly going to be important, and after the referee and VAR didn't spot a clear penalty on Ryan Yates, Dwight McNeil made the breakthrough. Rich Ferraro is joined by Maradona of the Midlands and Adam to discuss a day when nothing really worked for Forest, and the fans booed the team off on 90 minutes, with some accusing the players of a lack of desire, and the gaffer of a lack of ideas. The view from the opposition comes from Mike Richards from The Unholy Trinity Podcast. Nottingham Forest 2-3 Brighton: The 1865 Premier League Match Report

Nottingham Forest 2-3 Brighton: The 1865 Premier League Match Report

Forest suffered a rare home defeat, but in reality Brighton were the better team. Had it not been for a penalty and an, ahem, interesting red card for visiting skipper Lewis Dunk, the Reds would probably have been dead and buried. As it is, they will rue missed chances, with both Morgan Gibbs-White and Ryan Yates wishing they had done better. Steven and Baz discuss the game, the team selection and the refereeing performance which dominated the post-match discussion; it's fair to say that both sides were pretty unhappy with the performance of Anthony Taylor. We'll be back for the must-win home match against Everton. Ambulance chasers: The 1865 Nottingham Forest Podcast, November 2023

November's Forest Ramble discussion is here! This month, Rich Ferraro is joined by Baz, Tom and Steven to cover:  Everton receive a points deduction; what does this mean for the Premier League? Steve Cooper’s game plan - is the Reds’ success contingent upon listening to the gaffer? What will success look like for Forest this season? As usual, we will also hear the opinions of you, the listeners, we’ll have our monthly quiz and Jeremy Davies will be along with his latest Sketch. We will also have a quick Her Game Too update from Ellie Molloson, and Tom and the Maradona of the Midlands have an argument about Martin O'Neill. West Ham 3-2 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Premier League Match Report

West Ham 3-2 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Premier League Match Report

West Ham topped and tailed this game with soft goals which gave the hosts all three points. Inbetween, Taiwo Awoniyi and Antony Elanga had equalised, then put the Reds in front, before individual mistakes put the Hammers in control and left Steve Cooper desperately frustrated. Rich is joined by George who is fresh back from the London Stadium, to discuss the match, the atmosphere and game management. We also hear from Will of We Are West Ham with the opposition view, and the thoughts of you, the Forest fans. We'll be back in the international break to review our progress. Nottingham Forest 2-0 Aston Villa: The 1865 Premier League Match Report

Nottingham Forest 2-0 Aston Villa: The 1865 Premier League Match Report

It was back to winning ways for Steve Cooper's Reds as goals from Ola Aina and Orel Mangala led to a welcome three points after what felt like a long time without a victory. The Head Coach and his players got most things right on the day, and although Villa probably weren't at their best, a combination of team and fans kept them at bay. Steven Toplis and Ellie Molloson discuss the game, the early goals and the return of a feelgood factor. We also hear from Neil from For The Love Of Paul McGrath with a fair assessment from the away end, and we have a few words for Caiden Storry, the young man who took on the immense responsibility of playing The Last Post in front of 30,000 fans and a worldwide TV audience - well done to Caiden, the fans and players and coaching staff. Liverpool 3-0 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Premier League Match Report

Liverpool 3-0 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Premier League Match Report

The sporting weekend was overshadowed by the sudden and tragic death of Panthers forward Adam Johnson, and all of us here at 1865 send our condolences to Adam's nearest and dearest. On the pitch, Forest were very much second best and were never in danger of getting their first win at Anfield since 1969. It started badly when Steve Cooper confirmed that Chris Wood would be injured for a few weeks, just as he was coming into form, and Forest had no recognised attackers. Two goals in four minutes put the Reds behind, with a comedy third conceded as Matt Turner lost his head. Steven Toplis is joined by Tom Newton to review the match, with thoughts on Forest's form and Steve Cooper; we also hear from Neil Atkinson from The Anfield Wrap, sharing his views on the game and an optimistic prognosis for Forest's prospects.
