Anja Visagie discusses SPS’s launch of the Aqunion energy plant in Romansbaai

Founded in 2008, Sustainable Power Solutions (SPS) has to date successfully commissioned over 290 solar and battery storage projects in the commercial & industrial (C&I) sector across Sub-Saharan Africa, including St Helena Island and the Seychelles. We are a leading asset management company specializing in the funding, development, and operation of solar PV and battery storage plants. SPS is a portfolio company of Gridworks, part of British International Investment (BII), the United Kingdom’s development finance institution, and NewGX, owned by South African entrepreneur Khudusela Pitje. With the funding provided by our shareholders, we are able to offer tailored finance solutions to businesses and partner with developers & EPC partners across the region. Having both financial resources and technical expertise under one roof means that we are able to offer impactful and cost-effective solutions with short implementation times. Our team is proactively driving renewable energy initiatives within the C&I sector, with over 126 MWp of solar and 36 MWh of battery storage projects installed to date. To find out more visit www.sps.africa or email contact@sps.africa In this What’s Next interview, Visagie discusses the work SPS does in the sustainable energy industry. She explains how SPS has managed to thrive in a competitive market, before discussing the Aqunion renewable energy plant project. Visagie provides details about what the project entailed and how it will help Aqunion build a more sustainable future. She also talks about the microgrid concept, which formed part of the Aqunion project, and explains how this delivers incredible value to South African businesses. Visagie then discusses the current projects SPS is working on, and concludes the interview by explaining how businesses can work with SPS to achieve the same benefits that Aqunion will see for years to come.
