#12 The Mothman Part 2: John Keel, The Bridge & The Harbinger’s Curse

In Part 2 of The Mothman, we dive deep into the most unsettling chapter of Point Pleasant's nightmare: the prophecies that nobody understood until it was too late. Follow journalist John Keel as he arrives in West Virginia expecting to debunk another local legend, only to find himself trapped in a web of cryptic phone calls, mechanical voices, and warnings that would prove devastatingly accurate.

On December 15th, 1967, the Silver Bridge collapsed during rush hour, claiming 46 lives in the freezing Ohio River. But the mysterious phone calls Keel had been receiving for months seemed to point directly to this tragedy. Were the red-eyed harbingers trying to warn Point Pleasant? Or was something darker at work?

We explore the theories that have emerged over the decades. From sandhill cranes and contaminated wildlife to interdimensional visitors and ancient curses. Discover how Hollywood transformed a local legend into a global phenomenon, and why the Mothman's influence continues to spread far beyond West Virginia's borders.

Most disturbing of all: the sightings haven't stopped. From the "Black Bird of Chernobyl" to recent encounters in Chicago, the winged harbinger seems to appear wherever tragedy looms. Are we witnessing an ongoing phenomenon, or have we simply learned to see monsters in every shadow?

Join us as we examine the evidence, the skepticism, and the enduring power of a legend that refuses to die. Because sometimes the most terrifying monsters aren't the ones that hunt us - they're the ones trying to save us from something far worse.

Warning: This episode contains descriptions of disaster, death, and supernatural phenomena that some listeners may find disturbing.
