Meet the Author of Trying For Home | A Baseball-Themed Romance Novel

On this episode of Along the Rock, host Nathan Stahr sits down with local author Thomas Nance to talk about his debut sports romance novel Trying for Home, written under the pseudonym Stark Wilson.

Thomas shares the story behind his unique pen name, inspired by classic literature and his work in audiobook narration. The conversation dives into the inspiration for the novel, which is told from the perspective of a baseball umpire navigating both a high-stakes game and personal challenges off the field.

Drawing from over 30 years of experience as an umpire, Thomas brings authenticity to the story while exploring themes of family, relationships, and second chances. He also opens up about the realities of self-publishing, the time and investment it takes, and what aspiring writers should know before starting their own journey.

Beyond writing, Thomas discusses his background in audiobook narration and podcasting, including his Okay Boomer podcast and the creative opportunities that come with sharing stories through audio.

If you enjoy baseball, storytelling, or learning how local creators bring their ideas to life, this is an episode you will not want to miss.
