Send us a text Up and coming Mia Zapata, age 27, was emerging onto the Seattle grunge music scene in the early 1990's with her band The Gits. Someone take my "90's kid grunge card" away. The song "A Change Is Gonna Come" was written by Sam Cooke. Apologies to anyone who heard the previously incorrect version.
