On the collector car market side, the auction house rivalry between Gooding and RM Sotheby's was the subplot nobody planned for. A Shelby Daytona Coupe hammered at $39M at Gooding. RM Sotheby's fired back with the first electric Ferrari (VIN 0000) selling for $40M to a Florida billionaire. Meanwhile, Zuckerman quietly won Jerry Seinfeld's pristine slate gray 1961 Porsche 356 Super 90 GT at auction. The video of Zuckerman bidding is exactly what you'd expect. Monterey Car Week highlights also included: a guy who showed up in a stolen Lamborghini and got arrested, an SCR fan who bought a McMurtry Speirling road car, and a pre-show quarter-panel hit on an ultra-rare aluminum Vignale-bodied Ferrari before judging even started.
