I'm Fine, But I'm Exhausted — A 10-Minute Meditation for High-Functioning Anxiety

I'm Fine, But I'm Exhausted — A 10-Minute Meditation for High-Functioning Anxiety

Where Has All My Energy Gone? — High-Functioning Anxiety & Exhaustion Relief | Guided Meditation

If you've ever collapsed onto the edge of the bed at the end of a perfectly "fine" day and thought, "where has all my energy gone? I didn't even do anything today," this episode is for you. Calming Anxiety sits with the exhaustion of high-functioning anxiety, the quiet cost of holding everything together while everyone else sees someone coping just fine.

We slow the body first with the extended exhale, four counts in and eight counts out, gently unwinding the shallow, high-chest breathing that builds up during a long day of performing calm, the same kind of over-breathing Martin worked with often on ambulance call-outs as a paramedic.

Clinical hypnotherapist Martin then guides you through affirmations for the exhaustion underneath a capable exterior, followed by three daily caring tips for letting the mask down safely, in small ways, before bed.

🌿 Today's Gentle Affirmations

Let these words land, and repeat them silently or out loud if you wish:

* I am exhausted from pretending I'm fine.

* Holding it together every day is work in itself.

* My tiredness is real. I am allowed to rest.

* Anxiety can exist underneath a capable exterior.

* I do not have to prove that I'm struggling before I deserve kindness.

* I do not have to fall apart in order to deserve rest.

* I do not have to earn the right to be cared for.

* I am allowed to receive care, even though I am the one usually giving it.

* The version of me that other people see is real, but it isn't all of me.

* There is more to me than the face I show the world.

💡 3 Daily Caring Tips

1. Answer a little more honestly: Tomorrow, when someone asks how you are, answer a little more honestly than "fine." You don't have to tell them everything — try "a bit tired, actually," and notice that the world doesn't end.

2. Take ten unwatched minutes: Give yourself ten minutes of unwatched time somewhere in the middle of your day, not right at the end when everything else is finished. Sitting quietly in the car for ten minutes counts. You don't have to earn those ten minutes.

3. Notice yourself tonight: Before you sleep, name one thing you did that nobody noticed — something kind, something difficult, something you simply kept going through. Let yourself be the person who noticed.
