Caleb Flynn's Garage Door Was Blocked. His Wife Was Dead in Bed.

February 16, 2026. 2:30 in the morning. Caleb Flynn calls 911 and tells a dispatcher that somebody broke into his Tipp City, Ohio, home and shot his wife Ashley. Two gunshot wounds to the head. Their two daughters asleep in the next room. He tells officers an intruder came in through the garage side door. He says his handgun was stolen from his truck.

Officers arrive in four minutes. They find Ashley in bed. Shell casings on the floor. The truck's center console open. And a refrigerator sitting in front of the side door Caleb says the intruder used. The court affidavit says that door could not have been opened without pushing the fridge out of the way. If nobody moved the fridge, nobody came through that door.

Caleb Flynn was arrested 82 hours later. A Miami County grand jury indicted him on 11 counts -- aggravated murder, murder, felonious assault, tampering with evidence, and witness intimidation. His bond was set at 3.5 million dollars. If convicted on aggravated murder, the sentence is life without parole.

Ashley was 37. A volleyball coach. A teacher. A mother who posted Valentine's Day photos of herself and Caleb on February 14. She was dead two days later. Prosecutors have not publicly disclosed a motive. Court filings show Caleb was the primary beneficiary on a life insurance policy. The defense says the investigation was a rush to judgment.

This is the starting point -- every piece of evidence on the table, both sides, before testimony begins. The trial is expected to last two to three weeks. The jury will visit the house on Cunningham Court. And the Flynn daughters, ages nine and twelve, are on both witness lists. Caleb Flynn has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
