Caleb Flynn's 911 Call Analyzed by Former FBI Expert

A husband calls 911 at 2:30 in the morning and tells the dispatcher his wife has been shot. He says he was asleep on the couch. He says he froze when he heard the gunshot. And before anyone arrives to help, he is already reportedly telling dispatch about an intruder. That call belongs to Caleb Flynn, and it is now one of the most scrutinized pieces of evidence in a murder trial that has gripped Miami County, Ohio.

Tony Brueski and former FBI behavioral analysis expert Robin Dreeke sit down and go through the tape second by second. Robin identifies the specific audio markers that investigators are trained to flag -- the rhythm of the speech, the emotional cadence, and the critical difference between a person experiencing genuine shock and a person allegedly performing what they think shock is supposed to sound like. They examine why Caleb's immediate jump to the intruder narrative stands out as unusual for someone reportedly blindsided by a tragedy.

The freeze response is a real phenomenon. People do lock up under extreme stress. But Robin explains the behavioral science behind when that response occurs naturally versus when it is reportedly used as a convenient explanation after the fact. A husband hears a gunshot while his wife is in the bedroom. Does he freeze on the couch, or does every instinct in his body push him toward that room? Robin lays out what the data says, and what Caleb's version of events means when measured against it.

This is the opening salvo of the prosecution's case -- the moment the investigation allegedly began to pivot from tragedy to suspicion. Listen to the call. Then listen to what Robin hears beneath it.
