The Utugbaraigwe confides in the Chief that he suspects his rival, Madukanaya, isattempting to hijack the electoral process. Madukanaya is reportedly planning to buy up voters' cards from the Majie’s "stronghold" with the specific intent of destroying them to deny voting access, which the Majie notes is a "big crime".

The Honourable troubles are compounded by the actions of Aruude, Majie’s wife, who is actively campaigning against him. She accused the Honourable of embezzlingmoney meant for community projects and using those funds to sponsor his campaign. This resulted in significant embarrassment when she convinced womenat a meeting to reject the campaign clothes and money offered by the Honourable. Theprimary source of the Honourable’s anxiety is the anonymous radio station. It is causing "big wahala" (trouble) by reporting on his political schemes, including discussing how people are selling their cards and collecting money from the Honourable. The station even broadcast details about a community meeting and a small quarrel the politician had. The Honourable is certain that the station is being run by undercover journalists. Determined to stop this "nonsense radio" from disrupting his campaign, he immediately hires thugs to investigate its identity and location. He offers a substantial reward of 200,000 NGN to find out "everything about that radio station", including where it is operating from.
